Bernie's Photos From Belleville

Belleville From Bernie's Lens

Bernie sent along these fine pictures from our Belleville trip.

He and Fred drove down together in Bernie's vehicle and they managed to catch a surprise down by the station.

Thanks to Bernie for sending these along for our enjoyment!

Trista Centre greets visitors to the property due to its proximity to the entrance gate.

Following along the property line, Hayes Fuels says hello!

The industry is named after our good friend, Doug Hayes.

From Hayes Fuels we reach Juliana Junction where you have the choice to veer off to Cumberland or continue ahead to Kamaron City.

The windmill is "still" on this humid morning at Kamaron City.

The peninsula at Shaaneville East offers up hopper cars for a hungry train.  For the hungry operators, there is Bonnie's Foods straight ahead where we see the blue car and the yellow car.

Entering Shaaneville we find many cars on many sidings and spur tracks.

Across the wide, gravel aisle is Cumberland.

Between Shaaneville and Belleville we have this quaint main street of town.

Orleans has undergone some track rearrangements since we last visited.  Those two tank cars are spotted on the Lyon's Liquids siding.

The main yard in Belleville.  Marcel and I volunteered to be yardmasters here upon our early arrival.

Speaking of yardmasters...well, lookee here...they come in all sizes, short and tall!

Barry had these railroad caps offered up as giveaways along with some lovely coffee table railroad books!  Thanks, Barry!

Mike takes a seat for a moment of refreshment.  Our shirts were drenched before 9:00 AM, but, hey...it's railroading and we don't let the weather deter us!  The trains must get through!

Pat and Paul have taken their train, the one Marcel and I had made up in Belleville.  They will have eight locations to visit before they terminate in Ottawa later in the day.

Jean and Marcel share some stories as Sid, Moe and Pat huddle together beneath the umbrella in the distance.

Sid and Pat look on as Moe attends to a minor "service interruption" near the crossovers.

Pat and Paul enjoy a brief moment of rest as they hold the siding at Sandra Bypass.

Mike snaps a photo of Pat's locomotive navigating the crossovers.

The aisleway towards the back of the property Barrie designed is wide enough for all crews to navigate with ease.

Pat rests up while awaiting clearance into the next town along the line.

Yes, the grass is a tad dry due to the extreme heat of this summer, but Bonnie and Barry have managed to create a lovely oasis in their backyard in Belleville.

What's Mike up to now?  Oh yes, it's that lovely monarch butterfly that had grabbed his attention for so long!

The temperature reading in Bernie's car does not lie.  It was a hot one indeed!  While it reads 35 degrees, it did go down to 33 once they got moving.

In Bernie's words, "Fred and I stopped at Brockville to stretch our legs and to see if anything was happening at the station. Four minutes later, this auto rack train came along. Great timing!"

There's skipper Fred enjoying the passage of the auto racks.
Thanks, Bernie, for sending along these great pics from a great group experience down in Belleville!

Noelle's Views From Belleville

 Belleville From Noelle's Perspective

Noelle was so kind to snap many pics from our session at Barry's and Bonnie's home.

Johnny had instructed her to "Get many of Mike"..." seeing as we don't see his mug on the blog all that much!"  Hehehe!

This entry is dedicated to all the photos Noelle sent our way for our enjoyment...a view from her perspective!

Noelle captures me capturing my yardmaster mate, Marcel!

Pre-ops socializing finds Fred, Sid and Johnny in conversation.

Paul finds solace under an umbrella as Barry comes to get a car we have bad-ordered, a flatcar with two lovely Corvette's atop.  No worries though...Uncle Fred had it fixed and running in no time and we are happy to note that it was able to traverse the layout successfully on an eastbound manifest later in the morning.

The lower deck offers up a nice place to meet and greet!

Bernie comes to visit the Belleville yardmasters.

He and Paul study the orders for a train out from Ottawa.

We continue to block our traffic near the rear of the backyard.

Yeah, Pat has arrived...

...with his van mate, Moe!  This means we "will" be able to have lunch today!

Pat and Dave discuss all things and solve a portion of the world's problems!

With clipboard in hand, I snap an image of the train we are blocking for the first trick of the morning.

We work the sidings at Quinte West.

Paul and Bernie check over the landscape.

They look ahead at the work they need to do in Cumberland.

It's a line-up of trains and train masters!

Marcel and I reach Hayes Fuels where we have a few setouts and lifts.

Bonnie's beautiful garden beds make for a lovely environment in which to run the trains.

From Hayes Fuels we will bypass Pat and Moe as our train has no work in Trista Centre.

I've got that "school teacher" look on with the clipboard under arm!

The red umbrellas help quell the heat of the day.

Cumberland has a number of interesting industries to challenge the train crews, both facing and trailing.

Dave, Fred, Sid and Johnny fill out the round table nicely.

Barry and Pat in the long trench along the back fence.

The lower deck gets crowded with railroaders.

Pat and Moe pose for a nice pic from Noelle.

Their train is eastbound to Cumberland.

At the crossovers.

Paula and Bernie hold the siding at Sandra Bypass.

Two trains meet at the bypass...and that's what it was designed for!

Kamaron Falls is a lovely place to spend a summer's afternoon!

Pat has rolled into Cumberland as Barry looks on.

Moe is the brakeman and conductor.

Looking good lads!

That's little old me off in the distance.

Marcel and I enjoy the challenges inherent at Orleans with some new trackage.

Chuff Chuff's Junk.

Setting up camp.

Still setting up camp.

Still more setting up of camp!

Mike loves gardens so why not photograph them.

Mike loves trains...so why not photograph them too!

Mike and Marcel arrive Ottawa.

Camp is set up!  Yeah.  The tent canopy is a Godsend for these sweaty operators!

Pat has arrived Orleans and discusses the moves with Barry and Moe.

Another tent canopy is set up to the east.

The patio area.

The lads are coming along.

Almost there!

Paul decides to take a break and we don't blame him!

A lovely backyard made for playing trains!

Bonnie and Bernie get the burgers on!  Yeah!

Marcel grabs a wee drink!

We gather to await lunch.

As do the lads in the distance.

Moe works the burgers.

Bernie offers an assist.

The water fountain is a popular spot!

Keep at it, Bernie!

Nice!

Too many cooks...get the job done!

Pat has brought the munchies!

Bonnie enjoys a laugh.

You've got nice buns, Moe!  Hehehe!

Where there's food...we gather...like beasts to the watering hole!

Pat continues his work in Shaaneville.

The lads are kept busy with wonderfully scheduled trains.

Barry has cleverly designed the operations lists in order to run multiple trains at the same time.

While one train starts off in Belleville, an opposing train departs Ottawa and they will meet somewhere out on the line.

The meet may take place here in Kamaron City...

...or somewhere else on the railroad.

Mike lies down to film a passing train at ground level.

He follows Bernie's TH&B unit near Juliana Junction.

Mike checks his list as some work will be required at Hayes Fuels.

Pat continues his assignment at Kamaron City.

Bernie heads down the path in search of his train.

Pat peers off in the distance in search of his train!

Mike continues to film his run.

Bernie and Mike take the pedestrian crossing as their train enters Cumberland.

The lads have everything under control...except for the humidity!

Mike appreciates the umbrella, though!

A glance at Barry's storage area and the trackwork that flows beneath the deck!

Pat and Paul are nearing the finish of their run.  They have Cumberland to get through with Orleans in sight.

Mike and Bernie have terminated in Ottawa.

They deposit their cars to the designated industries and spurs...including Hamer Staging!  Yeah!

Nice CP locomotive, Paul.

This crew handles the trackwork at Cumberland with ease.

Sid views the "other Pat's" train across the aisleway in Shaaneville.

Barry's cleverly designed layout sees large aisleways to accommodate multiple crews in the various towns along the way.

Noelle's final picture finds Sid, Moe and Pat enjoying the wonders of an amazing garden and an incredible railroad.
Thank you, Noelle, for sending these lovely images our way!
