Scenes From a Session - July 4, 2015

4th of July Train Ops

For our July 4th session, we ran diesels.

Here is my crew mate, Malcolm, checking out his train as it departs Craig Leigh.  We are train 301 from Craig Leigh to Nelson Yard.  We would later continue our westward journey as Train 311 from Nelson Yard to Firgrove.
(Click on the images to enlarge them and click outside the image to return to the default look of the page.)

At Spruce, we spotted this little critter.

I managed to snag a shot of the lovely TH&B diesel climbing the grade out of Peter's Pond for Watkins Siding and later Bell.

Our train with the CN RS3 unit is downgrade from Mt. St. Helen's to Ironwood.

At Ironwood, we give the ore train an assist.

Bob, the engineer on the ore train is thankful that we hauled his "facing" lifts for him.

Upon completion of that meet, we were able to conduct our switching moves at Ironwood.

Later in the morning we spot Bob's return run with empties as it round the big curve out of Ironwood for Spruce.

While our train has already departed Spruce, passed Blockhouse and is about to pierce the trestle before entering the big yard at Nelson.

What a beautiful trestle!

It's fun railfanning the layout!

Later, as train 311. we've finished our work at Peter's Pond and Bell.

We round the big bend at Bell.

We will soon terminate in Firgrove at the westernmost point of the line!
While these images did not showcase all of our work, it provides you with a good idea of the fun Malcolm and I had running diesel on Fred's fine garden railroad!

I would like to thank Doug for allowing me to purchase this wonderful CN road switcher from him.
I'd like to thank Bill for the wonderful custom paint job.
Finally, I would like to thank Paul for placing the sound and all other gear necessary inside this little puppy to allow it to run so well.

There's always much activity around the central table.

What a joy it is to gather with such fine folk each Saturday morning!
Thanks for checking in!
