Narrow Gauge Session September 10 - Part Two

Remember the extended delay of 302/312 in Nelson Yard?  Well, Colin nailed it.  His explanation for the reason for their lengthy wait went like this..."Actually the long delay to 302/312 at Nelson Yard was a ploy by the crew to relax in the First class lounge and scrounge extra butter tarts."

The proof is in the pudding...er, rather...the butter tart!

With full tummies, 312's crew boards their train with helper service on the tail end.

And some beautiful power on the head end.

Love those steamers.

In short order, 312 arrives Spruce while our visitor, Paul Bown, checks out the entire layout.

Nice shirt, Paul.

312 reaches Ironwood.

Looks like it's the rear engine doing the grunt work here.

Steve terminates 312 in Craig Leigh.

We check on Paul as he is downgrade at Blockhouse with 318.

Under the Nelson Yard overpass.

Into Spruce.

And...around the bend into Ironwood.

Paul's yellow shirt stands out as he works the trailing sidings at Mount St. Helens.

We catch up again with Henk's "Little Engine That Could" at Peter's Pond.

And...here's the "Big Lad Who Can"!  Hehehe!

Henk certainly enjoys running 327/328 which is a break from his usual routine on the RP&M.

She's a great hauler, Henk!

The walkway between the pond and the mount.

A couple of shots of the ore train in Ironwood.

Looks like a meet to me.

Gord has departed the Glen and is running the RP&M at Bellamy.

Like Henk's centre cab, this little hauler is a brute as well.

Departing Bellamy for Rat Portage.

Another RP&M crew this time in Bell.

Gord has completed his work at RP and is on the return journey home.

We catch up with Malcolm in Ironwood aboard Train 15.

Later at Spruce.

In the distance, Paul is paying attention to his steamer.

The Pool Train departs Spruce for the Glen.

Much later, it is spotted upgrade at Watkins Siding.

On over to RP&M rails.

Malcolm and Paul in RP&M territory.

Arrival at Glen Hammond.

Later on, Train 15 is back in Spruce travelling in the opposing direction from before.
Now there's a handsome railfan!

Train 20's locomotive is a diesel on this day.

Brian and George have brought Train 20 down to Bell from Firgrove.

They discuss with Paul the possible sharing of car moves.

Indeed, it is great to see two railroads co-operating with each other for the mutual benefit of all.

Let's go over to Firgrove.  We see Steve, Pat and Bob pre-ops.

Steve and George assemble 302 before the session.

They confer to see if all is as should be.

Ralph Yard in Firgrove.

Let's head over to the other terminal of the railroad, Craig Leigh.

Lots of folks here!

It's "Paul Squared" in the early moments of the session.

A distant look over to Craig Leigh.

Looks like Paul has everything in control.

Douglas Yard in Craig Leigh.

Finally, let's have a glance of Nelson Yard.  We see Gord and Paul working the tracks to the east of the yard.  Paul is actually working out of Glen Hammond.

This CP RS3 handles some of the chores in the yard before heading out as an RP&M train later in the day.

Traversing the gut.

Indeed, Nelson crews have to cross the great chasm to handle traffic at some of the facilities beyond the abyss.

Colin enjoyed sharing the butter tarts with crews that arrived his yard in good order!
Hey, there's Steve and Pat a-seated in the yard once more!

Oh, yes...I almost forgot to profile the train Garry and I took out, 301/311.

A tad artsy, I would say.

The Larabie Fuels spur acts as a lead for us as we drill the trailing Windmill siding.

Garry is the brains behind the moves on this day.

We hold a meet with an opposing train before we depart Ironwood for Spruce.

Rounding the big bend into Spruce.

Where yet another meet occurs.

No worries, Garry has it all under control.

Out of Spruce, we have made our way across the landscape and will arrive Nelson Yard in short order.

Oh my God, I didn't break the camera!

Some rolling stock shots.

A full load.

 A short line car.

A local visitor to the Pond.

Some locomotive pics.

Indeed, they may be little but they are big in our books!

Brian's AB pairing.

Malcolm's new steamer.

Dispatcher Doug.

Stuntman Stu!

"Perfect Smile" Paul.

An overall shot of just a fraction of the entire railroad.

Ever the ambassador, Fred entertains his guest, Paul.
Thanks for checking in!
I'll post pics from the most recent session in a few days time.
