Steam rules supreme as we watch two trains meet at Bellamy, 311 on the left and my RP&M run to the right.
There are three turntables on the layout, one at Nelson Yard (pictured above), one at Bell and one at Firgrove. A wye is at Craig Leigh which allows the crews to turn their locomotives and their trains if required.
Fred hosts Grant, Leon and Don while the train ops are underway.
Pat's got it right! Those patio umbrellas certainly do the trick for the operators working the yards and towns.
Grant celebrating the fact that he is back in town and able to visit this remarkable layout. Great to see you out, Grant!
Lawrence handles the passenger trains on this day as Bernie watches on from a shady spot at Mount St. Helens.
Lawrence is eastbound out of Glenn Hammond on the outskirts of Nelson Yard.
That's my locomotive drilling the tracks at Nelson Yard. This shot was taken early in the session.
As you saw in Part One, Lawrence has a small video camera mounted atop the cab of his locomotive.
He has just passed Bernie's train at Mount St. Helens. Bernie run is a short hop down to the town from the main yard in Craig Leigh. This train handles the stock cars.
Lawrence is westbound through the trestle outside of Nelson Yard.
Setting the turnouts for the station track at Peter's Pond.
Crawling along the station track.
Approaching the depot.
Lawrence must have some work to conduct here as he has uncoupled from his train.
Aha! A meet at Mercer Siding. The "going away" train is handled by Pete and Paul. It is Train 311 out of Nelson Yard bound for Firgrove to the west.
The approaching train is handled by the two Pats, Brewer and Brennan. It is Train 304 from Firgrove bound for Nelson Yard to the east.
A lovely shot of a fine looking "meet".
Pete and Paul have arrived Bell with Train 311. Paul awaits while Pete checks the orders. That's my RP&M train on the station track which my crewmate, Rob, (out of the picture) is bringing to a slow stop.
Paul's locomotive uses the RP&M track as a lead to work Stuart Yard at Bell.
The IPP&W meets the RP&M.
Paul and Pete find solace in the shade.
A train in Peter's Pond.
Steve and Garry, the other RP&M crew meet my RP&M train at Rat Portage.
On their way out of Rat Portage.
Shunting the big yard at Nelson from the west end.
Earlier at Belson.
Nice shot on a curve.
Steve overlooking his train.
That same trio of tankers at Glenn Hammond pre-ops.
Henk's diesel center cab in Nelson Yard.
Working the industries in the local yard environs.
Malcolm and Pat pre-ops.
Doug and our visitors pre-ops.
Lawrence is upgrade into Mount St. Helens from Ironwood.
Bernie handles the stock run.
Another meet!
Rob is also a guest to the railroad on this day. He's turning our RP&M locomotive at Bell Junction in preparation for our run back along RP&M trackage.
An earlier shot of our RP&M train.
The Drover caboose tells us that it's "good-bye" for another week along the rails of the RP&M and IPP&W up here in Ottawa!
See you next week when we dig out the diesels!
