Fenced In With Nowhere To Go

Today was "Workday Wednesday" on the Railroad.
Notice something new?

Yessirree.  The new fence is in along the back border of the property!

It adds a great looking backdrop to the scene.

Now that we can visualize the property line, we should be able to place the siding at Watkins over to the other side of the mainline thus enlarging the aisle way that has always been a tad skinny for operators.  The arrow points to the narrow aisle way that has potential to be widened.  (We could actually move the entire mainline over closer to the fence as well.)

Looking down the mainline at Bell.

The station at Bell.

Part of the Brunt's Brewery facility.

The other section.

It now seems dwarfed, for sure.  The new fence provides a nice and cozy feeling to the railroad.

Two weeks following the addition of mulch to the entrance garden and a tad bit of weeding is required.

No problem, though, as the weeds that do shoot out of the mulch are "spent" from the climb and are "easy pickings" for this gardener.

Some of the bicoloured lillies.

This "Peace" Lily is an offshoot of one my mother owned.  It was her favourite flower in all of her gardens and it certainly makes a lovely addition to Fred's "Entrance Garden."

A new friend Fred found while out galavanting in the neighbourhood the other night.

Yet another newfound friend for Fred.

Thanks to some of our railroad friends for donating some interesting railroad artifacts for the "Rust Garden."

Well worn they are.

Looks "purdy" in my books.

The new seating arrangement with the BBQ moved over to the far side of the canopy.

Lawrence and Bernie take a break from their work.

Yup, the fence fits right in!

It adds colour.

And warmth.

Some cleaning out was done in the corners.

We did mention that it was Workday Wednesday, didn't we?  Fred is busy installing lighting in the Bellamy station.  Get him to tell you how he managed to carry the depot from Bellamy to here!

Yup, we're all fenced in with nowhere to go, but that's okay...we can play trains instead!
By the way...I did eventually get to the weeding of the garden once I put my camera down!
All the best,  Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

  1. Thanks for posting Mike, and a big shout out to all the weeders and other helpers too. I guess somewhere among the ruffians there's a station-carrier. Would that be a station porter?

Planning to drive to Ottawa on Friday, having been persuaded to make the effort by Doug at Bob McCown's this weekend. Good times in New England with US Friends and now looking forward to seeing Ottawa friends on Saturday.

    Cheers all!
