Pics From Pat (Session #8) and Steve (aircraft)

Session #8 Pics From Pat and Aircraft Images From Steve

Both Pat and Steve sent me images this past week.

Pat's showcase more events from our recent operating session.

Steve's showcase some fantastic happenings down in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Pat tells us this is his train, 304, which he is running with Henk.  Mike manages to snap a photo of skipper Henk who has escaped Nelson Yard and is on the lamb with Pat heading east to Craig Leigh.
Remember, you can enlarge the images by clicking on them.
You can shrink the images by clicking outside them.

Editor's note:  After publishing the blog I received this glorious e-mail from Mark C.

Mike...photo of skipper Henk who has escaped Nelson Yard and is on the lamb with Pat...
I didn't see any livestock in the photo, e.g. lamb.  In any case, I think Henk might have squashed it if he was on the lamb...
I suspect "on the lam" was intended. :)  I guess I watched too many James Cagney movies at the neighbour's when I was a kid...haha...Cheers, Mark

Right you are, Mark!  This retired school teacher (with fewer brain cells than when he was teaching) stands corrected!
Love it!  Cheers, Mike

As a recent escapee, Henk relishes the fact he does not have to toil in the hot sun in the big yard!

Passenger 32 conducts a station stop at Spruce...and, what a gorgeous station it is!

304 holds the siding track for a meet with Train 32 with both trains travelling in the same direction.

Take note of the ore cars being processed at Fallentree Mine off in the distance.

The Nelson Yard crew goes about their business at the mine and over at Lilly.

Nelson Yard assistant, Andrew, builds Train 323, the final run of the day for Pat and Henk.

323 will see the crew running from Nelson Yard westward to Firgrove.

Our very own "Ironwood Road" RS3 handles the chores beautifully on this day.

Yup, she's a real "looker"!

Pat has included a pic of the latest progress of the new house where Marilyn and Paul's house used to stand.

Pat also sends our way a couple of shots of the house on the property to the east of the new house going up.

"Surely it will be torn down and two or three more houses will be located there!" Pat adds.

Pat goes on to say, "During our Sunday ops at George's place, Marcel and I worked together on the Arnprior area of the layout. Here's a good pic of Marcel switching Ashton Feeds which is just to his left."

Pat continues,  "Here are a couple of shots of our different generations of locomotives in Arnprior yard."

" I got wise and turned my lights on for second pic."

"This last picture is of George bringing the passenger train out for a run. Note the transit outside the garage which was used by George to prepare for the expansion of his layout using Henk's old tracks."

Thanks, Pat, for the great pics from the two sessions held over the weekend!  Lots of fun, for sure!

I received this lovely note from Steve..."Hi Mike.  Just to let you know I’m still alive, just back from Airventure 2022 at Oshkosh Wi.  We won five awards for the Westland Lysander's great showing. I’ve attached a few pictures if you wish to use them. One of our party was flying out the same day.  Dave Hadfield was leaving with the Lysander and we had a chuckle because the Air traffic controller didn’t know what it was. He kept calling it the Silver High Wing!"

Steve adds, "She was the highlight of the broadcast from the Warbirds in Review program on Wed. They had reenactors dressed as the pilots and agents who were flying on the Lysander in WW2. Dave Hadfield gave a thorough talk on flying this unusual flying machine the only one still flying in North America. Steve."

Thanks so much for this trio of awesome images, Steve.  Looks like the weather co-operated nicely as well!

Our session for this coming Saturday, August 6th is cancelled due to humidity readings in the high 30's or even low 40's.  So we will catch up next week when we will run the narrow gauge session then.

Bernie and Pat...take plenty of pics for the blog if you think of it!

All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
