Grand Funk Railroad Super Bowl Super Run

Grand Funk Railroad's Super Bowl Super Run

I just received a cool e-mail from our good friend, Marcel, who doesn't have to shovel his driveway this winter as he is once again spending this shivery season at his second home down in Arizona.

Below is Marcel's e-mail.

Hello Mike. Every year my buddy Ekim Knuf of the Grand Funk Railroad has a Super Bowl Sunday Super run. Here is a video of Yesterday's run.

Ekim Knuf ( Mike Funk) backwards is the president and C.E.O of the Grand Funk Railroad. LOL

These images are mere snippets from the video Marcel sent along.

I initially thought that this was drone footage.  Marcel got back to me to say, "Hey Mike. By the way these  videos were not taken by drone. Mike has a raised patio attached to his house where you can climb a spiral staircase and sit at the patio table and watch the sunrise or moonrise unobstructedly over the superstition mountains. Wife Kathy took those videos from there."

A nice shelter to protect you from the sun.

Mike Funk informs us that the GFRR 6th Annual Super Bowl Super Run saw the addition this year of 300 feet of track allowing the layout to expand to two separated lines.  Up to six trains were running.

I like the dry bed simulating a stream.

That's one satisfyingly big layout!

Passenger trains.

A meet in progress.

A unit tank train...very impressive!

Yet another meet!

Thanks so much to Marcel for sharing!

In the not-too-distant future I will be sharing with you some recent developments in the boardroom at Fred's place!

All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
