WDWD in the Boardroom
When I arrived Fred's this morning, he, Chris & Henk were outdoors underneath the canopy with Chris repairing some of the plastic ties which hold the canopy in place.
Fred was doing up his jacket seeing as it was a tad chilly - most unusual for these hot August days.
I suggested we head inside - which we did.
I was a tad chilly as well! Big grin!
Here's Henk & Fred in the cool outdoors.
Chris grabbed a cup of coffee from Fred's kitchen.
Bernie arrived shortly thereafter.
Welcome back, Bernie! Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to Scandinavia!
Bernie inspects some of the cars Fred has been working on for Grant Smith of Cold Lake, Alberta.
Bernie also tells me that Pat Brewer is now travelling in Scandinavia. Enjoy your trip, Pat!
While we couldn't accomplish too much with the wet weather, Fred was happy to have a crowd arrive just for a visit.
Here are some of those narrow gauge cars Fred has worked on for George.
That's some collection of power Fred has up on his walls!
Colourful too!
And...not just North American!
In the green room we find improved lighting conditions.
Lovely steam power.
Love the crane with flatcar!
And...what could be hidden inside this box delivered to Fred from friends in the States?
Let's open it up and see!
Wowsers!
It's an S2 switcher in B&O colours! What a beauty!
It is already equipped with 'batteries and sound' and works by 'Air Wire'.
And...it even has a charger! By jeepers...she's ready to run on the railroad!
I like the carrying case!
Yes, Fred's workbench is quite the busy place!
Also found on the boardroom table was this flyer on the Brockville Railway Tunnel - Canada's first tunnel - built between 1855 and 1860.
This image found in the flyer is of steam locomotive 3011 finding daylight out from the southern portal of the tunnel.
Steam engine 3011 as photographed at Blockhouse Island.
Back in 2019 I visited the tunnel while on a railfanning excursion with our very own Gerry Berrigan.
I was impressed with the light display in the tunnel.
The colours morphed every few seconds.
Canada Day colours indeed!
Before eating ribs at Ribfest, Gerry and I headed over to the station for some railfanning.
A fun shot of three different colours on the signal tower!
We caught a few freights heading east.
Does the open access door offer air conditioning for the crew?
The VIA passenger trains by far outnumbered the freights.
Just two of the many VIA runs found trackside.
No...we didn't see VIA's latest 'one of a kind' train nicknamed 'Lumi" - short for Luminosity.
This image is courtesy of VIA Rail.
Gee...it I were ever to find a 'large scale' model of this train, I wonder if Fred would allow me to run it on the IPP&W - I think not! Big smile!
Keep a lookout in the next couple of days for yet another entry from our Belleville excursion!
Thanks for checking in on this WDWD entry.
In this image I am enjoying the Cappadocia Region of Turkey back in 2012.
And from the wisest of the bunch - Pedro Fredito..."Enjoy your day and enjoy your friends!"
