Bernie's Pictures from Session #2 Standard Gauge

Bernie sent along these images from Session #2 held back on June 2nd.
We spot Pat observing Lawrence as he examines the batteries located inside a gondola car.

To view the images in large format, simply click on them.
To return to the default look, click outside them.

Inside the storage shed for standard gauge equipment.

Malcolm and Brian test their throttles at Glen Hammond while Garry works Nelson Yard.

Bill and Doug discuss train ops pre-session.

Three amigos at yard throat in Firgrove.

Moe and Paul chat it up at the far end of Ralph Yard in Firgrove.

Doug, Doug, Barry , Brian and Bill around listen to the yarn around the table pre-ops.

Skipper Fred delivering the all-important safety speech while Garry listens in.

Doug in Craig Leigh.

TH&B brethren at Northland!  Unit 402 is a GP9 while 73 is a GP7

Bill checks his orders before requesting clearance for his second run, Train 303, from Craig Leigh...destination...Nelson Yard.

Malcolm ensures the turnout are aligned correctly for the main as the crew of 303 bid adieu to the Craig Leigh yardmaster.

TH&B 73 sits on the siding at the ore dock.

With the large engine house off in the distance.

Paul and Lawrence work 302 in Cedar Rock.

Barry, Brian and Doug enjoy a short respite in the crew lounge.

As do Moe and Henk at Nelson Yard.

Garry and Richard have RP&M Train 65-66 working the interchange track at the west end of Bell.

Raymond and Pat work RP&M train Rat 70 down in Rat Portage.
Raymond is paying us a visit from his home in Courtenay, BC.

Doug has arrived Nelson Yard aboard 301.  He will depart shortly as 311.  Henk ensures their visit in the yard is a short one.

Stuart rerails a car near the eastern throat of the yard.

Fred looks on from below as Doug, the dispatcher, observes the action at Nelson Yard.

And...there is action a-plenty as the yard continually morphs from moment to moment.

Stories have been told that ringside seats in the observation area around Nelson Yard can go for up to $200.00 a piece!  Those who pay that amount are getting ripped off.  I typically pay $25.00 a piece for mine!  Hehehe!

George and Doug are on westbound rails while they actually travel eastbound through Mercer Siding.  They are now Train 311 heading towards Peter's Pond.

Stuart and Fred share some news while Doug is occupied in the dispatcher's hut.

It's nice to see the new icing platform in Craig Leigh being put to good use!

Unit 73 continues to reside on a spur track at the ore dock.

It is truly a "meeting of the minds" at Mercer Siding on this day with westbound Train 311 meeting eastbound Train 304.

Firgrove is a hive of activity as well.

Standard gauge...

...means diesels galore.

Large and small.

Many in blue dip on this day.

Moe, the hired hand in the kitchen cooks up some grub for the participants post-ops.
Thanks, Bernie, for the great pics from our first session in June!
All the best, Mike Hamer
