Trackside Railfanning From Marcel

Train Pics and Stories From Marcel

Marcel has kindly sent along some fine looking images of December in Arizona.

He tells us, "The Saguaro Hills Intermodal System is coming alive slowly this year. Mother Nature dumped an excessive amount of rain this past summer that caused excessive washouts on the ballast but we're getting there."

Love that unit train, Marcel!

She's hauling!

Alas! I was able to find a snowbank that hadn't melted yet. Oh boy! Winter is going to be early this year. LOL!

The Grand Funk Railroad underwent some significant expansion this summer adding a second mainline and a couple of industries to make operation sessions more extensive.

President Ekim Knuf has been toiling with track expansion and ballasting. 120°F summer days won't allow for much outdoor endeavors so the cooler temps of November and December permit major work to be accomplished.

  More pics to come.

More traffic has been seen on the Saguaro Hills Intermodal Transportation System this year on account of the delay in the supply chain on the West Coast.

Container traffic is headed North as locomotives have been leased from foreign railroads in Canada to assist in moving the backlog. More to come.

Thanks. Marcel, for sharing these awesome pics with us.  When you send more, I'll post them to this blog entry and build on the images you have already shared!

All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
