Workday Wednesday Happenings - June 17th
A large contingent gathered at Fred's on this fine morning.
Yesterday the forecast indicated that we most likely would not be able to gather due to rain storms.
Alas...good ole (young) Mother Nature decided to shine on us instead of pelting us with raindrops!
Fred has been receiving a number of gifts of late and this little puppy has found a temporary home on the boardroom table.
Fred has also been busy at the RIP Track dealing with these cars that were brought to his attention in need of repair.
Just a few more gifts that have come Freddie's way!
I arrived rather early due to family commitments, so Fred & I got out three locomotives to get them up and running.
In total we were able to get the RS3 and two steam locomotives ready for the outdoor sessions and placed in the Craig Leigh engine house.
Henk & John are indoors with Fred & me.
This centrecab lettered for the RP&M used to run on the system.
It is lettered for the Glen Hammond Terminal Rwy...an affiliate of the RP&M.
While we now have three locomotives out in the engine house at Craig Leigh 'ready to run' none of the older chargers are working any longer...so we will have to hold off using the three locos in operations until new chargers can be purchased.
You find all sorts of cars on or near the boardroom table!
The gang is hard at work inside...
...and outside too!
I went to place the three working locomotives out in the engine house at Craig Leigh...and lo & behold...look what I found!
Yes!...all of the long-lost structures and figures we had been looking for over the past few weeks!
And to think, nobody opened the engine house during our first three sessions of the year!
Time to clear out the engine house so that we can place the proper items inside - that is - locomotives!
Ironwood Road locomotive #103 is first to head indoors.
This locomotive uses the 'Train Engineer' throttles of old...as do the two steamers set to head into the enginehouse.
Video footage of the locos at Craig Leigh.
The convoy continues with Engine #10 found on the south leg of the wye.
She's a beauty, Fred!
In she goes!
Our second video from the morning.
And...now for Number 15!
Final video footage from around the engine house.
My 'Hamer Manufacturing' facility down in Rat Portage had been missing its loading dock.
Yabba dabba doo! It was now found!
Ditto for the depot at Wellington Lake and many other miscellaneous structures!
Bill was heavily involved in the further progress of the trestle area at Goodie's Gulch.
Chris lent a hand as Henk supervised!
Bernie handled the "Wheelbarrow 500"!
Mark continued with his earlier efforts on the trestle.
Pat checked out many of the turnouts across the line.
Chris installed a new support for the bannister which Fred relies on to get up and down the staircase leading to and from the basement.
Yet another of Freddie's centre cabs!
And another...
...and yet one more!
The tools of the trade!
I had to relocate some of the structures to make room for the 'surprise' ones that were awakened following their long summer nap!
Still more 'test fits'!
A water tower finds a home down in Rat Portage.
Billy Boy is also an aviation nut!
Way too cool Bill!
Bill often refers to me as "The Eveready (Energizer) Bunny" but I've gotta say...on this day, he was the "Real McCoy" as he worked in the hot sun nonstop all morning long!
And yet...there is still much more to be done with this intensive project.
Our VW 'bug' found its proper home in the Rust Garden alongside Oscar the Grouch!
Mark has the right idea with his bright 'hand attire'!
In the next few days I will create another blog entry with images I snagged from Session #3.
We had a great turnout with all trains having been run!
As for me on this 'Workday Wednesday', I worked too...but I am most often on the wrong end of the camera! 😎
And Freddie lent a hand on many of the projects indoors and out.
With ongoing maintenance at the chasm, cars destined for the industries at Lilly and at the Fallentree Mine will settle in and around Nelson Yard for the time being.
We appreciate the hard work put in by our ever-expanding maintenance crew.
We are the WDWD crew of the OVGRS here in Canada's Capital Region
