Lots of great new developments took place this week in Craig Leigh. In Bernie's words, "The lead to Douglas Yard at Craig Leigh was too short for more than four cars. That meant using the "S" curve switches to the main line. There was also a thought to replace the steel trestle from Douglas Yard to Craig Leigh passenger terminal."
The bridge and lead track have been removed. A new wood structure was built by Fred and Bernie to handle the lead, main line and a new siding. (Remember, you may click on these images to enlarge them and click outside them to return to the default look.)

A perfect day for some track work!
Looking good.
Fred sticks to the shade!
Fred laid the track and two new switches on Tuesday. The lead will have the capability to access the main at Craig Leigh. The second switch was for the new siding which will be used for tank cars at Eastern Oil Facility.

Nice trackwork.
Looks great, lads!
On Wednesday morning,
Lawrence ran the first locomotive through the switches and some adjustment was
required. He finished the job by installing the valence.
Lawrence measuring twice...
...then cutting once!
Pat helped out with clean up around the property.
Lawrence places the final section of fascia.

Bob also showed up Monday
and reinstalled the electrical outlet at Peter's Pond with a flush outlet. This
will save a few scratched legs. The Wednesday morning crew
of Pat, Gene and later Bernie showed up. Gene continued his assault on the weeds
while Pat cleaned needles off the shed roofs.
A good week's work and a
more efficient setup is now in place for Douglas Yard. Thanks to this great crew of volunteers who certainly make a difference in the OVGRS!
All the best! Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
