Session #2 Standard Gauge - June 1

Bernie's diesel locomotive gives the indication that today's ops are of the standard gauge variety.

Pre-ops setup.

Ensuring proper car placement.

As dispatcher today, I have this lovely new schematic on the board.

With the crew list designation hanging above on the clipboard.

Magnetic blocks indicate the trains to be run.  All the trains to the left will be westbounds.

Some crews will start their day out of Glen Hammond and Nelson Yard located at the midway point of the line.

Trains departing Firgrove will be eastbounds.

The new siding at Gene's Holler.

The other new siding at Henk's Harem...or another name TBD!  Hehehe!

Glen Hammond and Nelson Yard early in the day.

Bernie is all concentration as he switches the industries at Craig Leigh.

There's a smile!

Barry's TH&B unit works the east extremity of Nelson Yard.

Videographer Malcolm.

The crew of 318 gives a wave to the other local Nelson switcher.

318 rounds the bend.

Tiptoes across the big trestle.

As the local crew continues its work across the gut.

318 blows the pedestrian crossing out of Blockhouse.

With this handsome gent looking on.

Doug and Paul observe their train.

As Passenger 2 slows to a stop at Bell.

With some headend equipment aboard.

318 arrives Spruce.

As Passenger 2 trundles into Peter's Pond.

Then into Glen Hammond.

While the Nelson Yard team make up traffic for imminent departure.

And...an efficient crew they are, I must say!

Earlier 318 had arrived the beautiful depot at Spruce.

Bill and Malcolm have things under control.

While at the western end of the line, Brian ensures Ralph Yard runs smoothly.

Drilling the far tracks at the end of Ralph Yard.

Looking good Brian!

Malcolm railfans Passenger 2.

The passenger cars run beautifully.

Great video efforts, Malcolm.

Passenger 2 arrives Ironwood.

Up in Craig Leigh, Bernie works the Northland trackage.

Here's Bernie.

Following their meet with Passenger 2, Train 318 continues into Ironwood.

Bill sets the turnout for Malcolm.

Then takes a breather.

We find Lawrence in the woodlawn setting up in Cedar Rock aboard Train 327.

He has quite a bit of work to conduct here.

Pat is aboard Train 301 and has protected his train for the meet with Passenger 2.

A lovely tankcar up in Craig Leigh.

Bernie continues to work Douglas Yard.

Passenger 2 arrives Craig Leigh.

Bernie aligns the turnouts for Doug.

As the passenger train will be wyed in order to back into the station track at the terminal here.

Doug backs Passenger train #2 onto the bypass track for Douglas Yard.

Bernie follows the action.

Passenger 2 backs past Douglas Yard.

Rounds the big bend.

On approach to the terminal tracks in Craig Leigh.

A great run, Doug!

Rounding the bend to the west of Bell.

Paul is in charge of 302 on this day.

Back in Nelson Yard George works away.

As does Barry with his TH&B beauty.

Over in Ironwood, Bill follows the progress of his train.

As 318 drills the local industries.

From my perch in the dispatch booth I am an audience to lots of train action!

That's Glen Hammond to the left and Nelson Yard to the right.

Lawrence continues to work Cedar Rock aboard 327.

He prepares to head back down the branch to Peter's Pond.

Moments earlier, Fred had witnessed its passage into the Glen.

With George sharing a trackside view.

Friends and comrades!

Pool train 15 meets 302 in Peter's Pond.

Crawling up to the station.

Hi Bernie.

Lawrence works the east end of Bell with 327.

Train 15 rounds the bend at "The Corners."

No struggle on the grade.

Arriving Bell.

301 in Ironwood.

Pat departs Ironwood...

...and arrives Spruce.

Through the looking glass.

Moe has encountered some monster ferns.

Necessitating a backup move.

Back to Rat Portage.

The pool train takes advantage and approaches Rat.

Arriving the depot.

Two other trains are in Rat Portage at the moment...

...hidden from view!  This train tucked into the trailing sidings above.

Still more traffic overhead!

The pool train at Blockhouse.

Pat steers 311 into Peter's Pond.

A nice looking train.

Wow!  Here we have a continuous meet with both trains rolling slowly by each other at Watkins Siding with neither train coming to a complete stop!

Incredible track planning has resulted in this glorious experience.

Fred is called over to check out the scene!

Fred's smile tells it all!  Brilliant!
Check in later on in the week for more pics from the session!
