Session #20 Third Section

We catch up on the action in Ironwood with Chris working the siding aboard Train 301 and Len and Brian departing town with Train 318.

Ironwood typically holds a meet between these two trains.

Colourful freight cars in Ironwood.

With 318 gone, Garry and Chris have the town all their own.

They have run around their train in order to service the facing sidings.

Meanwhile, over at Nelson Yard, Mason and Henk take a much deserved rest.

Paul has arrived with Train 302 and is departing the yard aboard his new train, 312.

Jean and Sid have arrived and chat it up with Neil.

301 has completed its work in Ironwood...

...and arrive Spruce in short order.

The two Pauls bring 312 into BLockhouse.

Their trains traverses the pedestrian crossing back and forth as they set out and lift a car at Blockhouse.

Yup, Blockhouse keeps this crew occupied at the moment...

...while Lawrence looks on.

301 has run around their train in Spruce...just as they had done in Ironwood...

...in order to work these sidings.

Pat hauls Train 15 into Ironwood, the Pool Train.

The crew in Spruce keep the main clear for the incoming passenger train.

While...over in Craig Leigh...

...a crowd huddles...

...as Brian and Len go over their consist for 303.

We are thrilled to introduce this lovely unit to the railroad.

As mentioned in an earlier posting...

...Mark has introduced this new Ontario Northland F-unit to the fleet.

It will handle the ore train on this day.

The train has drawn a bevy of railfans.

Looking good, Mark.

The railfans agree.

Hello ladies!

Before the Pool Train arrives Spruce, dispatch is able to hold a meet between 312...

...and 301.

The Pool Train is then able to depart Ironwood for Spruce...

...as 301 departs Spruce for Nelson Yard.

Sand is applied to deal with any slippage down the grade.

The little depot to the west of Spruce.

312 is safe in the hole as Train 15 arrives Spruce.

303 is given its departure clearance out from Craig Leigh.

Bernie follows the progress of the train through Northland.

With 303 out of the way, the ore train gains clearance.

While I should be in the dispatch hut, I couldn't resist snagging some photos of this new locomotive to the property.

The bell is ringing...

...as the ore train tiptoes out of the yard...

...and takes the west leg of the wye.

Then it is downhill...

...between Craig Leigh and Mount St. Helens.

The ore train meets 303.

Then it passes 303...

...on its journey into Ironwood.

The ore train meets 312.

The train is held to the east of town.

The engineer pulls his unit along the mainline.

This will allow 312's crew to get an assist as the ON unit will head into the Ironwood Brick siding and lift a tankcar for 312.

Train 15 arrives Glen Hammond.

Henk entertains a large audience.

Some more views from the meet of the ore train and 312.

The ore train assists 312 with is lift of the blue tankcar from Ironwood Brick.

The train will back its ore car lifts onto its train back on the main to the east of town.
The tankcar will be pulled back onto the main in Ironwood.  The CP unit on train 312 will proceed out onto the main and back onto the tankcar for the lift to be completed.

312 brought along two other cars in its consist to ensure the tankcar does not reside directly behind the locomotive.  That's teamwork, men!

Mason and Henk continue to create new trains.

Great job, Mason!

Garry and Chris are aboard 311 up in Cedar Rock.

Brian and Len bring 303 into Mount St. Helens.

Love that power Brian!

"Yes...Skip the Dishes...they're serving sausages here today, but I'd prefer a roast beef sandwich!"

The ore train nuzzles its way out from Ironwood...

...and through Spruce.

304 is found on Track 3 in Bell.

They have been cleared to Watkins Siding for a meet with 311.

311 arrives and proceeds up past 304.

Alone the main at Watkins.

With the eastern switch clear, 304 is granted clearance to Peter's Pond..

312 works Ironwood to the left.

The ore train proceeds upgrade...

...past Blockhouse...

...over the bridge near Lilly.

Two handsome lads!

The ore train rounds the bend at Lilly.

On approach to the trestle.

Through the iron.

Out the other side.

On into Nelson Yard.

304 arrives Peter's Pond allowing Train 15 to depart.

311 gains Bell trackage.

We note that the ore train circumvented Nelson Yard and found a clear alley in Glen Hammond to the left.

Train 15 climbs out of the hole from Wellington Lake up to Bell.

312 continues with its switching in Ironwood.

Paul squared!

Doug looks on as Henk and Mason determine which track to assign the locomotive.

Train 15 switches out the east house track in Bell.

Pat has borrowed Bernie's unit to handle Train 15.

From Glen Hammond, the ore train has found the Fallentree Mine outside of Nelson Yard.

The colours of the locomotive...

...look beautiful on the canvas at Lilly.

304 has it green...

...and the crew traverses the junction tracks.

Mark and son work Fallentree Mine.

Above the Blockhouse.

Dainty switching here.

Skipper Bill...

...along with skipper Doug!
Check in later in the week for the last installment of pics and stories from this week's fun session at Fred's place.  All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
