Session #21 Second Section With Mark's Pics

Mark e-mailed a nice allotment of images from our final session of the season.
Here we are pre-ops enjoying the treats a couple of the lads brought out!

Yum Yum!

Mark held the honours with the bell to begin the session.

In Bernie's absence, Pat did a "bang up" job as the Craig Leigh yardmaster.

Mount St. Helens is hopping with traffic.

Mark's guest, Ken, checks out the scene.

301 has been spotted traversing the ledge between Mount St. Helens and Ironwood.

Pool Train 15 announces its arrival at Ironwood.

Pat checks the cars in the sidings and spurs in order to determine his moves.

Train 15 descends the grade out from Spruce.

301 arrives Spruce.

Pat handles his train with great acumen.

I snag a shot of Mark who is snagging a shot of me!

The bridge towering above the gut is a landmark scene along the line.

Andrew and Pat enjoy a laugh.

Seanna and Ken look on.

Steve calls out the orders to Seanna as their RP&M train arrives the yard.

I look on as Ken takes 311 out of Nelson Yard and through the junction.

Paul is seated to the right as I snap a picture of 311 meeting our train, 304.

311 arrives the pond.

They take the branch up to Cedar Rock.

Ken handles the throttle.

With their chores done at the end of the branch, the crew greets the rest of its train back down by the mainline.

They are cleared to Wellington Lake via the subterranean line beneath Mount St. Helens.

312, in care of a diesel switcher travels east as 311 heads west in "The Corners."

Through Wellington Lake into Watkins.

Through Bell on the main line.

Garry toils in Nelson Yard.

Hi Andrew.

My crewmate, Paul, enjoys a breather off in the distance.

Steve has pulled Rat 71 over into Glen Hammond.

311 switches Bell off the main.

RP&M crewmate, Seanna.

Ken and Pat are all smiles as 311 makes headway to Firgrove.

Lovely steamer, Pat!

Arrival in Firgrove.

Some further pics from earlier in Cedar Rock...

...and Peter's Pond...

...as well as through the girders.

Alone in Craig Leigh.

As always, we enjoy great food and companionship following the session.

Say Mark...I did enjoy myself with Dr. Ruth.  She is an inspiration.  She is ninety-one and a half years of age...she puts an accent on the "and a half."  Her parents sent her by train from Germany to Switzerland at the age of ten to escape the Nazis.  She received letters from them for over three years at the dormitory where she stayed...then the letters stopped coming.  When she was studying in Jerusalem during the Arab-Israeli war (still in her youth) she was returning to her residence with a couple of girl friends when a bomb struck the stairwell she was ascending.  Her friends were killed and Ruth pretty much lost both of her feet.  Skilled doctors performed surgery and she has always been able to walk.  At four feet - seven inches...she has to look up to me...but rest assured, the reverse is true!

Thanks, Mark, for sending along these great photos from the session and thanks to Fred for hosting all of the fun!  All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
