Workday Saturday

 Workday Saturday

Four lads plus our good friend Fred assembled for a little bit of work to be accomplished on the first Saturday in June of 2021.

I snapped this shot earlier in the week on the Wednesday.

Lawrence and Fred have been active on the trestle.

The Siberian Irises are in bloom.

Fred had picked up some mulch to add to the rust garden.

Note the large evergreen tree/shrub has been removed as it went to "rust" over the winter.

Looking pretty!

This morning I caught Bernie mowing the patio!

Paul brought out his locomotive to run...but, alas...the throttle was in his other case housing his Canadian Pacific diesel!

Another view of the rust garden from today.

Here's our skipper!

Ah, that's better, Bernie.

Still lots to clean up.

The stones actually work in the aisleway.  I later raked lightly and only the pine needles were swept up, so things will work out okay here after all.

Hi Paul!

Surveying the track.

The needles will be swept later.

Cookie!

We kept hearing, "I want to run, I want to run!!!"

Something new across the way!

Marcel "smoking out" the mosquitoes!

There's a great smile!  This smoker will ensure we will not have "mozzies" for a few weeks at least!

Then...the rains came.

They certainly did!

No worries for Bernie and Marcel...

...nor for Mike as well...

...as the new canopy is doing the job it is supposed to do!

And...the Lord said...

We close off this post...

...with a few more pics of the rust garden...

...with its various characters...

...announcing a wonderful harbinger...

...of great days ahead.

...for the lads and lasses of the OVGRS!

Epilogue.  After I had left with Lisa...Bernie captured these next three images of our skipper.

Fred is intently focused on getting that rail in on the new trestle.

He had been feverishly filing it at the crew lounge table when the rains finally let up and allowed him access to the area.

Thanks for checking in!
