Session #3 Pics From Our Good Friend John

Session #3 Pics From Our Good Buddy John

It was great to see our good friend John Soehner at Fred's on Saturday!

John is a renowned rail photographer and is found trackside pretty much every day of the week!

We were lucky to have him choose the IPP&W to railfan this past Saturday!

We are at our pre-ops briefing and Fred is passing along the news relevant to the session and the season.

Car lists are on the tracks as the crew goes about the early morning set-out.

George has arrived early and ensures all passenger and freight cars are in order as Marcel looks on.

Passenger 32 threads the needle through the Fred Mills Trestle in the wee hours of the morning having departed Glen Hammond moments earlier.

A diesel locomotive has made an appearance in the Sergeant Stripe scheme created for CN.

Peter's Pond has a car at Norton's Fishery and three cars on the lower team track.  The cooperage is empty for the moment.

With all that headend equipment, this must be Pool Train 33.

Dispatcher Doug at the console pre-ops.

301's power running along the main in Spruce.

The crew is cleared up to Nelson Yard and is underway.

The pool train has found Ironwood.

Bill keeps thing spickety-spam in Nelson Yard throughout the session.

We spot this westbound in Peter's Pond facing geographically east at the moment.

Here we have the reverse situation, an eastbound facing geographically west!

With the mixed train facing west in Glenn Hammond, the crew will be a westbound out early in the morning.

Rat Portage in the morning light.

Work to be done in Peter's Pond.

Craig Leigh pre-ops.

A stark Northland Ore Dock.

Bob's in town!  Love that hauler, Bob!

Fred indicates that with the rising cost of fuel, lodging, border issues and the elevated Covid numbers in the city's water, we will not be holding an "Invasion" this year.  Let's remember our invasions fondly and keep them in our hearts as wonderful memories!

Craig Leigh in the dappled shade.

Ditto for Douglas Yard.  We spot the locomotive belonging to yardmaster Paul.

The coach yard is a busy one filled with myriad colours!

This lovely "going away" shot from John ends this posting.

Here's John on the left with Marcel and Paul.
See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil!  Hehehe!

Great to have you visit us, John!

Thank you so much, John, for sending these wonderful images along.  It was a real treat seeing you out at the session.  Please feel free to return at any time!
All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario,. Canada
