Pat's Pics From Session #14

Pat's Pics From September 17th

Pat kindly sent along a host of images from our most recent standard gauge session held two Saturdays ago.

The was Session #14 of the season.  Indeed, fourteen weeks of Saturdays have offered up "train running weather" on behalf of the OVGRS.

(We have now run a 15th session since these images were snapped.)

Thanks so much for sending these pics my way for publishing, Pat.  You will receive 50% of my earnings from this blog entry...which amounts to...well...nothing at all...but good thoughts and well wishes!  (Big grin!)  Yup, putting a blog entry together is a "labour of love"...yet another hobby of mine.

This is Train 304, run by Chris and I, coming out of Glen Hammond headed for Blockhouse.
The captions all come from Pat as well.

304 rounding the bend at Lilly.

Chris is switching at Blockhouse with Bill Scobie supervising.

Chris knows what he's doing so Mr. Scobie takes a seat back in Nelson Yard.

Marcel and Grant beating around the bush!

Action at the (much talked about) junction with Seanna and Steve as the main actors in this scene.

Garry has the passenger train stopping at the newer location of Ironwood station.

Chris patiently waiting on the Ironwood crew as he and I finished our switching at Spruce and we are eager to head to Ironwood. Sid keeps a close eye on the situation.

Hazy pic of the passenger train leaving Ironwood and we see Bob's Ore train, including some of his own ore cars, passing Wellington Lake.

Bernie...all smiles as 304 arrives in Craig Leigh

Bernie's loco waiting for 304 to start some switching at Northland Interchange. Saves him a move.

Pool train at Glen Hammond.

My van parked in an area that won't be accessible by vehicle when George completes his extension of the railway from the two-car garage, which you can see a sliver of on the left side of photo. You can also see what was Henk's old rail yard on the right of photo.

Henk's old rail yard transformed and elevated, now at George's.  This will be connected to the existing garden railway but only after making a big loop around much of the grassy area shown behind my van in the previous photo.

Marcel modelling while showing off my relatively new van.

The front of the two-car garage where George has the operating layout at the moment. This will stay as is but will have an extension outside which will loop around to Henk's old yard. You can see the beginning of that extension on the right side of the photo. It 'almost' looks like Len and Marcel, as well as George and Fred (inside building) are having intelligent conversations. I was out of range so cannot confirm or deny the intelligence level of the conversations. (Big Grin)

Marcel keeping a watchful eye over operations at the other end of the garage. Behind Marcel is two tracks going to Bennett's meats while to his right is the spur into Ashton Feed & Grain.

Three active locomotives. The one "going away" is number 45 hauling the passenger train around the layout. My Annie (still without a number) is tucked in the yard looking to do some switching when the passenger train clears the way and Marcel's locomotive number 1707 is also waiting to get back onto the main so we can continue to build another train or two.

A picture of George's workshop from the outside with a familiar man in the doorway .. It's Fred!
Thanks so much, Pat, for taking the time to snap these images and e-mail them my way for the whole gang to enjoy!
All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
