Workday Wednesday July 19th

Workday Wednesday - July 19th

A handful of navvies arrived Fred's property to work on the railroad today.

Pat and Henk held down the majority of the work as they weeded, gardened and mowed the lawns.

Mike devoted time to visiting with Lawrence while Fred ambled about handling small chores.

Bob assisted Fred with electrical work in the garage/office.

I arrived the property to find this gentleman "hard at it" with the weeding.

Oh...now I recognize him...why it's skipper Henk!

And from behind the bushes in Firgrove, this interloper dropped in!

No, it's not the Sasquach...why, it's Uncle Fred!

Henk continues to toil in the hot morning sun at Brennan Gap.

Mr. Pat Brewer is found outside the office doing some whipper-shipping.

Protective glasses are a must while using these handheld machines.

Pat's assembly of garden tools.

The arrival of this handsome lad brought joy to us all.  Hi there Lawrence!

Lawrence, Pat and I discussed possible placement locations for the ore dock up in Cedar Rock.

Our thoughts are to add a third track in this area to accommodate the dock.

The new spur would be located between the two existing ones.

Yes...between the crusher and the aggregates track.

The ideal location for the turnout would be on the inner crusher track to the right.

This was a fun discussion among friends.

Pat and Lawrence enjoy the cooler temps of the morning, in particular in this shady location!

This will be a project for another Workday Wednesday as the railroad's right of way required addressing with loads of weeding to be done.

Another future project for the WW crew will be to address the "wye" turnout coming into Spruce from the west (geographical east).  The house track will also go in at some point this season.

Bob arrived and headed into the garage/office with Fred to oversee some electrical project.

This hirsute lad laps up the sun's rays in the crew lounge!

Mike joins in on the photo!

You've worked really hard this morning, Pat.  You deserve a break!

Henk as well!

Lawrence enjoys a beverage.

Bob joins in on the conversation.

Bob was delighted to find this "dinky toy" box in the shed.

How cool is that!

A little gem of a treasure...now...to find the actual truck!  😁

The new garage door looks great Fred!

Fred had fun painting the door with a single spray can!

Pat's license plate deals with his other hobby - he is a ham radio operator.

The Lawrence Watkins Trestle and the Fred Mills Trestle tower over the gap in magnificent fashion!

Here's Lawrence once again.

Meanwhile, Henk got back to work.

As did Pat!

This little fellow will get a workout later when Fred heads down to the store this afternoon!

Check out this video of the garage as the door opens and closes.
The background noise is Pat using either the leaf blower or the whipper snipper.

Here is a similar video taken from inside the garage office.

Thanks for checking in on the "Workday Wednesday" crew.
It is our sincere hope that our efforts pay off in keeping the railroad good and ready for operations each week!
All the best...the OVGRS WW Gang!
