Doug's Northland RR Ops Session #2

Doug offered up a second session at his Northland RR on August 10th.
Steve was one of the participants.  He was assigned to the Branch run.  Here he is climbing the steep ascent out of the Lake Joseph Quarry.

Thanks to Doug for sending all the photos my way to post to the blog!

Moe in red and Paul Norton in white are aboard eastbound freight, 210.

Bob has his Santa Fe locomotive readied at the ferry terminal at Crown Point.
He and Paul Anderson will run westbound freight 211.

Steve's CN unit is safely tucked in the siding at Seguin Falls.

While Bob passes on the main.

Steve pierces the multiple spans between Seguin Falls and Rousseau.

Bob steps out on another trestle to the east of Rosseau.

Lawrence Bridge is the latest addition to the line named in honour of Lawrence Watkins, the fine gentleman who built it.

Moe and Paul are east of Crown Point.

With their CP unit.

Steve has arrived Rosseau.

Paul Anderson and Bob have passed the big curve at Huntsville and are headed westward towards Haliburton Junction aboard 211.

Seguin Falls is beautiful in this woodlawn setting.

With two handsome lads in the mix.

There's a runaround track at this location where trains can work both facing and trailing sidings.

Steve continues to work near Rosseau.

We find him further east having passed through Lawrence Bridge which spans the Vernon Lake Quarry Branch.

Bob and Paul in the distance at Haliburton Junction.

A bit of a rest for Bob...

...while Paul checks the orders.

Steve is enjoying himself immensely!

That sure is a lovely unit, Bob.

An artsy shot through the trees.

We find Bob crossing the new span.

The foliage on Doug's layout is spectacular.

The sergeant stripes on Steve's CN diesel certainly stand out against the green.

Steve...near Stone Lantern Junction.

Where he takes the branch line downgrade.

Around the bend.

Toward Vernon Lake.

Where the quarry is located.

A shot of the rolling stock in Doug's stable.

A rather nice CP unit.

And...an equally nice CN one.

Paul and Moe arrive Rousseau.

Steve has arrived Vernon Lake where the quarry is located.

211 continues westward.

At Seguin Falls.

Some overall looks at the landscape.

Showcase a beautiful marriage of rail and nature.

Paul in the triangle near Stone Lantern Junction.

Bob running light.

The lantern that protects the junction.

 Oops...what have we here?

Indeed, Mother Nature can offer up a scolding at times!  Yikes!  Looks like Doug has a touch of rebuilding to do.  Just one more job to add to the "Honey Do" list!

Thanks for checking in!  Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
