More Pictures and Videos From Pat

Pat's Great Pics and Vids!

We are here again to view more lovely images and moving pictures Pat has sent our way from a recent train running session.

A work train (maintenance of way train) welcomes us as we begin yet another fun posting on our fabulous IPP&W/RP&M Railroad.

Mark has gone into the "vault" at Fred's to find these wonderful work cars.

Yes, we are up in Canada...and, yes...it can get pretty darned cold...

...but, we are a hardy lot...and if you dress for the weather, train enjoyment can be had!

Let's listen in as Pat narrates the early movements of this glorious looking consist!

Oh dear...it's Uncle Fred checking in on the blog.

"Young men!" he hails..."I'm going to lower the boom!"

"Lower the boom?" we call back.

"Yes, you young lads have forgotten to lower the boom on the crane!"

"Ooops!" we call out meekly.

"And...while you're at it, turn the crane around and have it facing backwards for safety.  Make sure it's tied down as well!"

Yes, we should always remember...safety first!
Big smiles all around!

In case you feel scared...no need to worry...

...our Grinch is a kind Grinch.  As soon as he saw a train running around the Christmas tree his heart grew three sizes that day and he became a Happy Grinch!

The work train arrives St. Helens.

The early morning sun shines beautifully on our train.

Meanwhile below and far away, the plow extra piloted by Lawrence is located in the distant wilderness outside of Peter's Pond.

Mark navigates his train atop the embankment out from St. Helens.

While these two trains appear close in proximity...

...this is not an actual meet.

For they are miles and miles apart with the plow extra navigating Watkins Siding on the western division of the railroad and our work train on approach to Ironwood in the east.

Let's follow the progress of these two trains on video, shall we!

Perhaps the work train is required to do some heavy lifting here?

Or, perhaps, it is on to another job elsewhere along the line.

It would appear that the work train requires a little "work" itself!  Ah...it doesn't mind the attention it is receiving from Mark!

Mark has inspected his train and all is well...

...so he is now underway...

...at the summit of Clarke Hill.

With brakes applied his train coasts down the grade...

...as we zoom in on that beautiful crane!

It's a lovely "going away" shot of the train through Bob Canyon...not Bobcaygeon.

Yes, the name comes from Mr. Bob Clarke, the gentleman who the lengthy grade is named after!

We catch up with the crew ducking under a heavily forested area.

From out of the shade and into the sun!

A 3/4 angle view of the work crane

Simply magnificent!

Let's follow along with the work train through Pat's video footage!

The plow extra being piloted by Lawrence makes its way from the big bend at Lilly and onto the  Fred Mills Trestle.

The plow extra began its day at the Northland Ore Dock in Craig Leigh.

With its bright yellow nose, Santa may wish to give Rudolph a year off on Christmas Eve!
(Just joking with ya, Rudolph!)

Lawrence has one special looking piece of rolling stock here!

With a blow of the horn and the Christmas Bells ringing...

...the team is on its way!

Why...it's a winter wonderland!

I can hear those sleigh bells ring-a-ling!

Jing-jing-jing-a-ling!

So...you better watch...you better not pout!

You better not cry, Pat's telling you why!
The white stuff may just be here to stay!

So now it's time to continue with railroading in an "indoor" way.

Be it a new project...

...like this diorama I built many years ago.

Simply send along images of your work...

...or of "you" working on the project yourself and I will share your passion with others through the blog!

I have a special marine vessel on the diorama which I explain in this short video.

Are you aware that there are exactly two weeks until this Merry Fellow comes to your home town?

Wow!  He certainly does get around the world pretty lickety-split!  What's that Santa is saying?

"HO HO HO"
Well we'll just have to teach him that HO is not the only scale we railroaders model.

"N N N"
Merry Christmas N-scale modelers!

"Sn3 Sn3 Sn3"
Ah...Bill is a happy camper this holiday season!

"G G G"
Now that's better, Saint Nick!
You've got the correct scale there!

Santa...don't forget our Z-scale modelers and those in F as well...or anyone who models in something completely different!

All the best and do stay safe and warm!
Cheers, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
