Catching Up

Catching Up

We use this posting to catch up with some more leftover images from earlier sessions in September.
Remember, you can click on images to enlarge them and click outside them to return to the default look of the page.

Being "leftovers" does not imply the images are "outcasts".  Far from the truth...I just didn't have time to showcase them as they occurred later in our sessions for any given day.

The caboose to the right on Track 4 acts as the tail end to my eastbound train as Doug pulls into Bell on Track 3.

Number 7 comes to a halt as I begin to proceed out from Bell.

My train heads onto the yard lead...

...and snakes through the crossover track onto the mainline.

I come to a stop here as I will have to set out my second car to the facing siding in Wellington Lake.

I'm in a holding pattern as Number 7 passes me on the siding track.

The crews exchange pleasantries...

...as number 7 picks up speed...

...and heads on down past the Wellington Lake spur...

...off into the wilderness.

The line is now all mine so I cut off from my train but keep the stock car...

...as I will have to shunt the CPR 40' boxcar into the Wellington Lake track.

This dictates a runaround move...

...in order to shove from the rear.

My brakeman tells me I'm three cars from the turnout.

We crawl into the facing siding...

...and slow to a stop...

...at good old Wellington Lake named for our affable Firgrove yardmaster, George Wellington.

Done!  The brakes are set on the car.

It's now a matter of backing on to my train.

There we go!

With clearance gained...

...we pick up speed...

...as we pass our setout car and hurry on to Peter's Pond.

Vintage Video

We have vintage video of Pat running his Royal Hudson.

Pat's train is out from Spruce.
Click on the white arrow once, then a second time when it appears over the red circle.

Say...I know a great link which Terry Foley shared on Youtube that shows a live steamer Gauge 1 version of the Royal Hudson.
Check it out by scrolling on the link below and right clicking to view the video!

And...for our car buffs in the group who like speed, here is a video of Terry running up the Horseshoe Pass in Wales in his 2002 Porsche Boxster.
Terry prefers to reference the Horseshoe Pass as Bwlch yr Oernant (Pass of the Cold Stream)!
Again, scroll on the link below and right click to view the video!

It's great to have you on our e-mail list, Terry!

Back to our train running session...it would appear Neil has a passenger run on the go out from Mount St. Helens.

Looking good, Neil.

Looks like the steam generator car is in tow on this day.

High on the heels of the passenger train is this CP short freight with a GP30 in command.

I round the curve in "The Corners" on approach to the tunnel.

Second generation power rides high above first generation power.

No matter the generation, these venerable units always manage to earn their keep!

Let's catch up with that stealth steamer again!

She takes the big turn out from Spruce.

Hugging the cliffside...

...she begins her descent of Clarke Hill.

While...my train breathes fresh air again...

...with its target set on Peter's Pond.

Arriving the "Pond" we notice the Cedar Rock Branch diverging to the upper right.

By the fishery.

We hold our position for yet another meet.

Many crews exchange greetings at this busy location along the line.

Railfans flock here on weekends to snap images...

...like this one.

Our passenger friend slows for a station stop.

This is the location of the depot in non-Covid times!

Outward bound, we say good-bye to Neil...

...and hello to Paul A.   But...that's for another entry!

Here's another Paul...Paul N. along with Moe!

The sky in the background indicates a lovely morning!
Thanks for checking in!
