Extra Postings From A Few Weeks Ago

Still More Extra Pics and Stories From a Few Weeks Back!

Yes, we have so much fun trackside that we could be writing about our adventures every single day of the week!

Our new road switcher in that handsome black beauty scheme continues to thrill railfans trackside!  We continue to be thankful to Bill Sn3 Scobie for completing the paint job and to Fred for the detailing work on the underbody.

If you recall, we had an incident where two trains met in a cornfield somewhere between Nelson Yard and Spruce.  (The dispatcher must have been asleep in the booth!  Oh, yeah...there is no dispatcher this season!)

The train breezes past Lilly...

...and trundles atop the Fred Mills Trestle...

...on a path to Glen Hammond.

You will recall how the shorty passenger run tucked into the empty siding at Blockhouse to allow the freight train access to the main.

Well, that's Marcel's and my train now finishing up the work at Blockhouse.

Meanwhile, Paul sails through Ironwood with his Passenger extra.

Pat and Bernie have donned their masks for a day out along the line.

Bernie acts as maintenance of way man!

D&H GP38 #7316 takes on the grade out from Blockhouse.

The sun is in this railfan's favour at this location.

There's that NYC car in the passenger consist to the delight of the many railfans in the region.

A couple of hopper cars rest on the siding at Ironwood Brick awaiting a train to pick them up.

Train Extra 7316 continues its eastward ascent of the hill near Spruce.

Reaching the summit of the grade, the crew cant into the curve...

...with the horns blaring out their intention...

...of scaring any potential wildlife off the tracks at this well frequented region of the line.  (Mainly chipmunks!)

The ghost station comes into sight.

We take the siding as we will soon encounter a meet with a westbound train and we do have work to complete here.

The sun shines through the slats of the stockcar situated directly behind our locomotive.

Here comes the westbound now.

Local school children have placed pennies on the track in that long-standing tradition at Spruce.

The GP30 appears regal in that handsome CP maroon and grey scheme with gold striping.

Diesel meet diesel!

Be it passenger, be it freight, either way...it's a train!
Yabba dabba doo!

The stainless steel shines in the morning light...

...and that handsome New York Central livery has a glow all its own!

We can't stop snapping pics of this great looking train!

The park car pulls up the rear...

...as the train continues on to the station in Spruce.

With the meet in the past, we begin our work here.

We check our switch list...

...to find that we have four lifts here.

Marcel acts as conductor...

...as we head into the industrial spurs...

...to pick up a mitt full of hopper cars.

One siding offers up a lead for us...

...to head into the team track for another loaded hopper.

Got a hold of that hopper...

...which we bring down to our train after replacing the stock cars at the front of our consist.

The hopper will have to go in front of the van...

...so we uncouple from the hopper to lift the van...

...as Skipper Bill watches on.

With all cars in their proper configuration...

...it is time to roll the locomotive back to the front end of the train.

Here she goes...

...along the main...

...passing her cars in search of the head end.

While Andrew makes an appearance to see how things are going.
Check in later for more pics and stories from the past!
