More Belleville Blog Pics and Videos
It was so nice to see a large crew come out for Barry's recent train operating session.
We got to meet folks from various localities in our wonderful province of Ontario and we were blessed with a visit from our American friends, Diane & Ed Mann.
This blog entry details more of the train running and socialization that took place during the day.
This CP Rail crew runs past the yard at Cumberland heading toward the junction.
They started out their day in the big yard at Ottawa.
Barry offers up some advice pre-ops.
Indeed, as we saw in the first blog entry, Pat is the happy owner of the GN endcab.
A bunch of the Ottawa crew assemble as Barry holds the safety briefing.
Barry and Bonnie have done an outstanding job in their backyard creating a veritable paradise.
We have near perfect attendance on this day...says this former teacher!
I'll take the Hershey's car any day!
The far corner at the yard limits to Ottawa offer up bathing opportunities for the local bird population.
This car would fit in nicely in an ops session scheduled to take place on October 31st! 😈
It would appear that both trailing and facing sidings are being dealt with by the crew of this train.
That would be...John & Grant.
Video in and around Cumberland Yard.
Seeing as I was nursing a bad back, I wasn't able to get low down too often to snap true railfan shots, but I managed to kneel down sufficiently to capture the crew here in Cumberland.
Looking good fellas!
Continued Cumberland video work.
Pat and Al work the yard in Orleans.
This locomotive runs 'cab forward' as Pat tells me.
Orleans video efforts.
Another low angle railfan shot of their efforts in this location.
Love the church, Barry!
Orleans video work.
The priest will have to shout out his sermon to the congregation as the train crew works the rails adjacent to their holy place of worship!
Video of trains and churches!
Oh look! A drone!
This must mean that Moe is in the neighbourhood!
Ethan works the yard tracks and the elevator siding in Trista Centre.
Looking good, Ethan!
Video of a drone, but not a drone video!
Moe will most likely share his aerial views when he gets time to review what he had captured on the day.
The ladies have reached the newer trackage Barry has constructed.
Off in the distance, the Great Northern crew holds tight as the Rio Grande locomotive clears its train from the junction.
The crew is safely tucked in on the main here.
Pat & Al are now allowed to proceed through the junction.
Video work in the area nearby the junction.
The Rio Grande power earlier had awakened from its slumber!
Here are some earlier views from Trista Centre.
Ethan was thrilled to inherit a number of railway and model railroad magazines which Pat had brought with him from Ottawa.
We spot some of the traffic residing on the Trista Centre siding tracks.
Here was my first glimpse of Ed & Diane as they entered Barry & Bonnie's backyard!
Ethan can't believe what he is seeing as Diane wears her amazing railroad hat!
Another glimpse at the grain elevator our local Ottawa OVGRS member, Chris, had made for Barry.
Covered hoppers anyone!
Here are two more views of the garden and its railway which Barry had sent out earlier.
Lovely Barry & Bonnie!
The patio is full as operators make their way around the layout.
There's a stiff wind as evidenced by the blowing hair on Barry's granddaughter's head!
Another shot of the landscape from above.
Crews work on either side of the aisle as viewed from the upper deck.
Upper deck video.
A view of some of the changes Barry has made to the railroad.
Back in Brockville we heard the signals going and looked west to see 'headlights'!
Now...if you ran a train on your model railroad with two large diesel locomotives hauling a single freight car everyone would say..."That's not prototypical!"
Well...here's prove that it is! 😁😎😁
Doug & Pat can offer evidence as well!
Strange train video at Brockville!
And...when I arrived home I was able to operate the North Dover local switcher on the layout before heading to bed.
I have my lifts from Haney Fuels straddling the curved stone arch bridge over the Salmon River which separates the states of Maine (on the left) and New Hampshire (to the right).
I traverse the Boundary Road crossing on the outskirts of town.
Video review as I bring my train to a stop in order to have the end of the consist couple on to the other cars on the south siding in town - out of view.
Thanks for checking in on the blog entry from 2025.
This image was taken during our 2018 visit!
And...thanks to Barry & Bonnie for being such welcoming hosts!
I have enough pics and videos to create a third blog entry from our visit to Belleville.
Be sure to keep a look out for it in the coming days!
We are the OVGRS of Belleville/Kingston/Ottawa - all locations in our beautiful province of Ontario, Canada
