Rain Out Blog Entry
Unfortunately our inaugural session for the 2023 season has been rained out.
No fret, we still can enjoy the trains which run on Fred's layout via a couple of videos from Bob's YouTube channel.
I managed to snip some shots to share with you and I'll provide the links at the end of this entry.
Thanks, Bob, for sharing the link to your channel with us!
Here is Bob's British steam locomotive on departure from the environs around Craig Leigh.
Bob has found Chris back at the passenger terminal area in Craig Leigh.
Chris's GP9 with van make a great tandem.
Mike railfans Bob's locomotive as it races past.
Arrival in Spruce.
Keep in mind that true train ops have yet to begin, thus the empty feeling to the yards and towns.
Bob proceeds up to Lilly where a "service interruption" impedes his progress.
Mike's D&H GP38-2 holds to the east of the trestle.
Track worker Pat is repairing a short section of rail where gaps appeared after the long winter hibernation of the railroad.
Bob is found at the western terminus of Firgrove.
Bernie takes Mike's throttle and runs his locomotive back and forth over the newly repaired area of track.
Father Fred inspects the track on the trestle as Doug and Moe look on nearby.
Bernie, with throttle in hand continues with the testing of the trackwork.
Like a typical city of Ottawa road crew, one lad is doing all the work as a handful of others look on!
Mike is found to the right with camera in hand while Steve runs his streetcar way off in the distance at Spruce.
Mike's diesel which he was joking about with the lads. I told them that Bernie and I made a trade...I got that wagontop HO scale 40' boxcar while Bernie inherited the diesel you see in the image above. Of course the lads weren't buying it. Hehehe!
Bob proceeds down our secondary railroad, the Rat Portage and Mattawa.
When he pierces the tunnel in Rat Portage he will find himself out on the front of Fred's property for a short period of time.
His locomotive re-appears beneath Firgrove.
On the lower level bound for Bell.
Passing Pratt's Bottom.
Across the aisle Chris has made it through the junction at Anderson.
Both locomotives are now riding atop RP&M rails.
Steve has made it through Bellamy with his City of Ottawa streetcar.
He diverges to the west (geographical east) as he remains on IPP&W trackage.
A closer view.
Into the sunshine.
Onward to Mercer Siding.
Bernie and Mike are hanging around.
Righthand running through Mercer.
Bob has achieved the grade and will enter Bell's environs in short order.
The low hanging branch will be dealt with by the "Workday Wednesday" crew in a few days time...which you have already seen in a previous blog entry.
Arriving Bell so named for the locomotive bell that used to reside in this area of Fred's property.
Through Bell and into Watkins Siding named for a dear friend Lawrence Watkins.
Through "The Corners" and heading beneath Mount St. Helens.
Hey, let's check out some of Bob's train running from his home as found on video at his YouTube channel.
Cool track work on two levels.
Multiple trains running simultaneously.
Power from two Canadian roads.
Colourful consists with further power from afar!
Indeed, tons of fun!
Trains on the move!
Looking good Bob!
A lovely day as well!
A look from the other end of the deck.
Low angle shot.
Another GREAT job; WELL DONE!!!
