Dilip's Pictures and Videos From Session #7
Dilip was kind enough to take some still images and great video shots from our most recent session.
He posted them to a site for me and instructed me how to download.
I am most appreciative of his fine efforts in teaching this old dog some new tricks! 👍👍💥👍👍

Claire & I made up the crew of first trick Train 301 out from Craig Leigh early in the AM hours.

We have two set-outs here; a stock car for the stock pens on the near track and a boxcar for McKenzie Lumber on the far track.

The center track acts as an 'overflow' area when shunting cars around.

Both of our lifts come from Pelkola Packers on the near track.

This image shows how the center track is used as temporary storage when the operators must set out or lift cars far down along either siding.

Claire is a pro as engineer!
Indeed, Dilip found Claire & I at our first town location of the morning at St. Helens in this video effort.
While photographing and filming, Dilip is also managing the ore train as a single person crew on this day!
We appreciate your efforts in all three areas, Dilip! 👍👍👌👌👍👍
Moments earlier we find his train taking to the crossing.
Father Fred motors around the grounds to check in on the tremendous amount of action found trackside.
Loads of ore traverse the landscape around Peter's Pond.
Fred did a great job rearranging the choke cable throws down here by the station during a recent Workday Wednesday session!
Peter's Pond video footage of the passage of ore through town.
Henk & Bill inspect their paperwork in Nelson Yard as Dilip lifts loaded ore cars off the spur at Fallentree Mine.
The large Fallentree Mine dominates the landscape here.
While located in the western area of Fred's property, the large Nelson Yard is actually at the center of rail operations every Saturday morning - both literally and figuratively!
Video work by Dilip in and around Lilly.
With our work now complete at St. Helens, Claire drives our train atop the plateau in the direction of Ironwood.
I have requested clearance from dispatch to hold my train on the main outside the eastern end of Ironwood in order to lift a single car off the Ironwood Brick siding located nearby.
Ironwood takes on a very busy appearance at many times throughout a session across all three tricks.
In these series of images we find 301 and 304 sharing the workload here.
Gerry gets the far turnout as he & Chris have been asked to lift the ore cars from Ironwood Brick.
Dispatcher Doug has arrived to check on the progress here as the ore train enters our orbit to the lower right of the image.
Indeed, we may very well hold a triple meet here in a few moments.
There are the ore loads in behind our train.
By this point, Claire & I have run around to the rear of our consist as we must deal with a number of facing sidings.
We return to the yard to drill those facing sidings.
We watch Dilip's Video evidence in and around Ironwood.
And...here is my video evidence of Dilip taking his video as I showcased in my earlier blog entry!
This was the video where I mislabeled Train 304 as Train 303 in error.
Ironwood is now in our rearview mirror as we reach Spruce and take the passing siding to allow the ore train out.
Seeing as we exited Ironwood, the triple meet did not take place as we encountered the ore train at Spruce instead.
I video the ore on the move.
Here, once again, is my video evidence of our train meet of westbound 301 with Dilip's eastbound ore train.
Meanwhile, up in Cedar Rock, Doug & Bernie aboard IPP&W Train 302 work the many trailing and facing sidings found there.
On hot summer mornings the shade at this location offers a nice 'holiday' from all that sunshine!
The structure with the three blue roof areas is the Watson Electric facility.
With four cars on the hitch, the lads get down to business.
A look from the far end of Cedar Rock.
We are able to watch Dilip's Cedar Rock video take.
Off in the distance Steve sets the turnout for his westbound Train 303 as it prepares to hit Mercer Siding.
Much later in the day, the empty ore cars are returned by Dilip to the various mines en route.
He 'threads the needle' through the iron work of the Fred Mills Trestle.
Looking good there Dilip!
Empty ore cars star in this video segment.
Much earlier, Dilip has just exited the Northland Ore Dock in Craig Leigh and races down the grade into where he will pass through St. Helens bound for Ironwood.
Ore meets 304!
Gerry & Chris are protected in the siding here at St. Helens.
They wait for the passage of the long stretch of ore cars before continuing with their moves at this location.
Yet another wonderful ore train video.
Two unit trains (of sorts) meet to the east of Watkins Siding.
Like two ships passing in the night...
...we have two trains passing in the daytime!
Pool Train 33 has work to conduct at the house track in Spruce.
Bill & Henk have been kept busy with traffic entering and departing their yard on a continual basis...yet they remain cool, calm and collected!
Doug & Bernie are found in Spruce with their second trick train, Number 312 just having arrived town.
Dilip managed to capture a few images pre-ops.
At times the morning sun blanches some of our images.
Father Fred speaks to his assembly and after a few words of his epistle...it's time to operate the railroad!
We thank Dilip for not only sharing images and videos with us while running the ore train alone...but also for acting as our Train Master for our Narrow Gauge sessions
As Train Master, he utilizes the RailOps computer program (no longer available to the public) to generate the mountain of paperwork required for a successful session to take place.
He is also an avid musician, a great guitarist and keyboard player!
On behalf of Dilip, Fred and the whole crew, we wish everyone a pleasant week in the days ahead!
Until next Saturday when trains will once again ply the rails of the IPP&W and RP&M lines we remain the fun OVGRS Family located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
