Workday Wednesday Happenings - July 23rd
As always, a dedicated crew makes it out to Fred's on Wednesdays.
Their 'raison d'etre' is to refer to the maintenance logbook for any issues written down by operators from the previous Saturday's session.
General garden maintenance is conducted as well.
Bernie sent along these eight images with their descriptions for us.
Thanks Bernie!
While it would appear the lads are up to no good just sitting around...such is not the case.
They deserve a decent break after all they accomplished on this day.
Henk manned the lawn mower while Chris weeded and Doug painted the trim on the dispatch booth.
Photographer Bernie trimmed the Spruce tree
between Spruce and Ironwood (no photo).
Bernie tells us that even though it was another small group of assistants, Bill cut back the rear roof of the station at Bell so the wider locomotives would not hit it.
The group also brought out the black centre cab and it is now running.
It is parked in the NY engine house.
Bernie says that he did not get a photo when he was testing it.
He tells us that it had been running with quite a short range, but new batteries in the controller fixed that problem.
Pat was occupied cleaning out the "Rust Garden".
Hey Pat, Mike has nicknamed it the "Garden of Weedin'" just like in biblical times!
For as soon as you weed the garden, more weeds just pop up in the same (supposed) seven days of Creation!
The trim gets a new coating of paint from dispatcher Doug to make the overall appearance 'pop'.
We'll snap a few pics on Saturday at our session to share with you!
Bernie tells us that Chris was "deep in the woods" at Mount St. Helens!
Bill unravels the electrical cord required for his cutting tool to deal with the depot at Bell.
Doug looks on as Bill gets down to business with the cutting tool.
Looking good there, Bill!
Hey, if anyone is free Friday evening, Mike & Corinne will be performing at the "sunset viewing party" from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Westboro Beach Cafe Pavillion.
It is free of charge!
We will also play again at the same time Tuesday evening!
While this image shows me performing with an electric guitar, I will be on acoustic only Friday & Tuesday evening.
Corinne has a wonderful voice and she has performed with me all over town including at Fred's annual Patio Party!
Our full band will perform Saturday, August 2nd also at Westboro Beach.
"Too much fun!" says Mike.
Again as I share this image once more, thanks a ton to our dedicated WDWD crew.
Sorry I had to miss that day as I attended a retirement luncheon for a colleague located south of the city.
Great job all around lads!
They are the WDWD crew of the OVGRS here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
