It's a Working Man I Am

It's a Working Man I Am

Mr. Sn3 Scobie, aka, "Bill, the Working Man" got his hands down and dirty this past "Workday Wednesday".

Alas, I couldn't make it that morning, but it is my understanding that this "working man" hauled dozens and dozens of these stones to our amazing IPP&W railroad from a neighbouring property.

Here we catch him carrying stone #23.

Later on we find him with stone #27.

They're feeling a lot heavier as the morning wears on!

"What stone number is that, Bill?" I ask.

"It's stone #35!" he huffs and puffs.

While his smile tells me that he is having fun, I think a "thought bubble" would indicate something quite different.

The "thought bubble" would probably say something like this..."Hamer, put that darn fooled camera down and help out!"

Ah, but after stone #48, the job is completed...

...and it's time to don that protective mask once again.

Well, Bill is working man...and when he is not hauling stones he is working on his fabulous railroad.  These next few pics are from some train operating sessions I attended a few years back.

Not only is Bill a superb "stone hauler"...

...he is a master modeller.

His layout depicts the Rio Grande Southern...

...and he has nailed the scenery!

The layout sports spectacular equipment...

...and runs like a charm!

I can't get enough...

...oh his trestle scenes...

...and locomotives...

...and both in the same shot!

This is a massive layout...

...and a massive undertaking!

That's Joel on the right with a smiling me in red on the left.

As the old adage in model railroading goes...

..."A model railroad is never finished!"

And...such is the case with Bill's narrow gauge layout in S-scale.

Here a bit of the story in Bill's own words..."After some time working on the lighting for Butterfly I came up with this layout.   Went with two tock on portables lights with 100WAT led lights."

"One is placed at the end of the main bank of layout lights shining down on that frontal area the other is up in the floor boards it lights up DEPANNEUR LORI and also apart of Butterfly and a part of the track coming out of Pandora."

"By going this way I did away with lights and got what  was needed."

Well, Bill...

...we've gotta hand it to ya!

Not only are you a pretty darn good rock carrier!

You're a darn fine layout builder!

And...we don't know when you ever find time to sit back and rest with a coffee or a b-b-b-beer!
(Oh, by the way, Bill...Fred tells us that there are 48 more stones ready to be carried to the property next "Workday Wednesday!"  (Big grin!)

  1. Mike;
You might just change that from "Fred's Property" to "Our railroad".
After all it is a railroad that all of us are enjoying, and it ceased to me my railroad, years ago. Bill is just contributing to the upgrades that we all are contributing to; each in our own way. We will be ready, when it is safe again, to operate and socialize, thanks to those that feel safe, in small numbers to maintain "Our Railroad". We all respect those that do not feel comfortable, at this time, to attend in person. They are contributing in their own way, and will join us again, when they can.
