Invasion of Friends 2016 at Barry's in Belleville - Part One

Day One of the Invasion

We arrive Belleville for the first day of operations for our Invasion Weekend.

Day One of the Invasion of Friends 2016 finds a group from Ottawa driving down to Belleville to visit Barry's incredible garden railroad.
Chris looks on as Barry reviews the train orders.
Barry informed us that we would see some changes to the backyard and we certainly did.  Last summer, this was the location of an above-ground swimming pool.
It is now a lovely patio with a pergola.
With the removal of the pool, Barry was able to provide new locations for some of his industries such as Hayes Fuels over by the fence and Tatters-All which was relocated near Bellville on the railroad.
St. James Flour is a new industry outside of Trista Centre.
New gardens also adorn the property following the pool's removal.
With elegant walkways.
In both directions from the patio.
The cushions are yet to be placed on the patio furniture due to a potential threat of rain.
Lovely walkways allow operators to reach their trains.
The staging tracks remain beneath the large deck.
An overall view of the yard looking west from up top the deck.
The crew sign-up lists fills up pretty quickly.
Let's do a quick tour around the layout before the session begins.  We are at the terminal at Boyce.
Cora's Corners is next door to the wye.
So is West Ben.
Taking the track to the left we arrive at Quinte West.
Then Belleville.
Where the new Tatters-All Warehouse is located.
A long stretch of track.
Finds us in Shaanenville.
Where Picton Industries is located nearby.
Then it's across the newly completed trestle.
The tracks flow below the mountain.
Where crews find daylight at Kamaron City.
Kamarron City.
Through Juliana Junction.
Past Hayes Fuels.
Around the big bend at Trista Centre.
Where the new flour mill is located.
Returning back.
Past the elegant garden.
Around the bend.
Heading westward.
Into Cumberland.
Then Orleans.
With its many sidings.
The bridge between Orleans and Cora's Corners.
Another bridge on the outskirts of Cora Corners.
Another view of the wye.
Back at Boyce Station.
Indeed, Barry's railroad is a colourful one!
So we need colourful characters to operate it!  Hehehe!
From left to right we find John, me, Chris and Bob.
Check out this great find out on the street.
Say, it's Ric and Jan!
Now this is one colourful vehicle!
Barry calls the crews to a pre-ops meeting.
We listen attentively.
Then it happens.
The skies open up!
But, alas, it passes in short order.
We board out trains and begin the session!
Check in later for Part Two of "The Invasion of Friends at Barry's in Belleville".

To see a cool looking video taken of the layout from Moe's drone you will see Lela and I using the "0-5-0" method of switching out a siding as we encountered a touch of trouble with coupler height differential between the Dole car in our consist and the other cars.  We eventually lifted and turned the Dole car with the high coupler around and things seemed to settle down.  The video showcases a unique view, for sure and it certainly is fun to watch...especially with Lela and my "0-5-0" moves!
