It's the middle of the week.
That means...
...Workday Wednesday!
Work usually isn't a fun word...it's a four letter word!
But...when you work on the railroad...it seems to be a fun thing to do!
Lawrence and Garry spent the morning installing a crossover in Nelson Yard.
This means that two new switches had to be put in place.
The crossover allows the crews greater access to the first track where locomotives are brought onto and removed from the railroad. It also allows for greater flexibility for the crews to access the track that leads to the turntable. Better still, the newly laid switches offer another location for running around cars.
Doug ensures the large hedge does not encroach on the trackage with snippers in hand.
Gene does some weeding.
He also began a larger project involving the re-staining of the fascia boards.
What a difference the new stain makes, Gene!
Following general gardening, raking and weeding, Fred asked me to hang the sign at Watkins.
I placed it center along the full length of the siding at this location.
Looking nice.
Spiffy, for sure.
Fred was here this morning doing all sorts of mini-projects, but he managed to elude my camera...the crafty lad!
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Nelson Yard crew will enjoy improved operations this coming Saturday with the new crossover installed down to that first track!
All the best! Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
