The day is sunny and hot...and it is a Wednesday.
That means one thing..."Workday Wednesday" on the railroad.
The front "Rust Garden" is in strong need of weeding!
Ah! That's better.
It seems I have a very interested supervisor watching over my every move!
Or...maybe it's Pat. I'll just leave him alone with that weapon!
Garry has been kept busy all morning installing a choke cable in Nelson Yard.
Yup...his pant legs attest to the hard work he has been doing.
Garry and Fred staple down the choke cable after threading it below Nelson Yard while Len pushes and pulls the handle as the lads verify proper movement.
What a great difference this choke cable will make for "Turnout H" here at the eastern throat of Nelson Yard. In the past, Garry would have to rely on an operator stationed across the yard from him to throw the turnout manually.
Henk will have the honours of testing out the new choke cable this coming Saturday when he will be the Nelson Yardmaster.
Garry gets all "choked" up.
Len arrived the work session long before anyone else and went to work greasing the choke cables around the layout.
This one at Peter's Pond caused a little grief during our last operation.
Thanks to Len, it's working beautifully now!

Fred and Lawrence remove a turnout in Ironwood.
They've repaired it and have replaced it back in its proper location.
Gene circles the layout doing quite a bit of weeding. With the "Invasion of Friends" coming up later this month, we will keep a keen eye on all of the weeds.
Gene and Fred a few moments earlier with Fred holding the Ironwood turnout..
Say Pat...
...when you're done there, could you drive over to my home in Alta Vista!
Bernie arrives on scene and gets to work with that cool looking muscle shirt!
Lawrence and I...
...take a break from the heat and enjoy a lark!
Back to that garden.
Miss Piggy and Cookie Monster are happy their "bed"room is neat and tidy.
Indeed, with the pulling of the weeds and the addition of more mulch, it truly looks like a rust garden.
With the many rusted out railroad artifacts, it truly is rusty!
Too much fun!
Let's check in on our heavyweight cars.
Thanks to Gilbert Lacroix at GLX we now have some newly added body-mounted couplers on the heavyweights.
After Fred installed the couplers, he took the cars our for a test run through the turnouts in Craig Leigh.
They handled all the turnouts beautifully.
While "offset" through the curve, Fred was pleased with how the cars stayed on the tracks.
Great job, Fred!
Yes, we are ready to run Saturday morning when the operations will be standard gauge!
Have a great rest of the week everyone and thanks for checking in!
