New Station Name Signs for Peter's Pond
While the WDWD crew abandoned their work today due to potential high temperatures, Chris was able to make it over to Fred's as he lives close by.
Chris created new station name signs for the depot at Peter's Pond and applied them to the depot.
Since the Pond is now very much in the history books with a lovely patio taking its place, Chris has joked that we should call the town Peter's Patio from here on in! 😁😎😄
The new station sign looks awesome Chris!
Uncle Fred is one happy camper seeing the signs adorn the front and both ends of the depot!
The old depot used to reside across the tracks from its present location.
As per usual, 'The Pond' is witness to a number of train meets as found here back in the year 2016.
In this image taken in 2014, note too that the there were no stub-end sidings where the station used to be located.
Today there exists the team track and the Norton Fishery track, both capable of holding three cars each.
Trains continue to hold meets in this location seeing as the trackage to the west of Peter's Pond covers a vast territory before the town of Wellington Lake is met.
On another day we find four cars occupying the two stub-end tracks.
For those non-believers in the existence of the pond, here is living proof from 2016.
Here is the view looking across the pond over to Cedar Rock which was home to the chiminea.
We take a peek at the pond-side view from the patio.
Check out the lily pads...
...and the lovely Lilies!
Spectacular!
Indeed, there is always one maverick "fish out of water" in the group!
Across from the pond, Henk & Lawrence confer on some item with regard to Cedar Rock.
During one of our invasion weekends, our friendly neighbours from south of the border brought along their own power to run on the system and this Southern Belle caught my eye!
COVID did not deter the trains from a-runnin' as evidenced with Mike's D&H GP38-2 heading back to Peter's Pond along the Cedar Rock Branch.
This was what life was like up in Cedar Rock during pandemic times.
Dressed in UP attire, IPP&W Train 311 rumbles through 'The Pond' headed in the direction of Wellington Lake and Bell before finally terminating at Firgrove.
From Firgrove, traffic will be interchanged with further western going trains from other roads.
We find a triple meet of trains in Peter's Pond in late May of 2024.
Triple meet video effort.
And on another date in 2024 we find two opposing trains meeting in 'The Pond'.
Video Pond work.
The departure of a westbound out from Peter's Pond is captured in this image.
More Pond video work.
Yet another day sees another train running west through the area around Peter's Pond.
Still more video reels from 'The Pond' area.
From Peter's Pond we find the crew aboard Train 314 backing up the Cedar Rock Branch.
314's escape from 'The Pond' along the Cedar Rock Branch was captured on video this past weekend.
The great thing about railfanning is the fact that you never can tell what pleasant surprises will move into your camera's viewer and this little critter does not disappoint!
Critter video view.
And...yet another pleasant surprise came my way many years ago!
More surprise video work.
"Wow!" Mike shouts. "A New England Diesel!"
Now...what's that riding atop the Mobilgas tankcar? 👀
Check out this great 'New England' video footage Mike is proud of shooting!
This centercab is up for the job at hand hauling ore across the Ontario landscape!
The ore train transits the trackage through 'The Pond' in this video.
Here's the photo I shared of Chris taking a photo of the station last Wednesday.
And...here is the previously shared video of my train on approach to a station stop.
Thanks for checking in on this shorter blog entry.
Thanks to Chris & Fred for their work this morning.
They are the WDWD crew of the OVGRS up here in Ottawa, Canada
