Workday Wednesday Workings - June 11th

Workday Wednesday Workings - June 11th

A healthy number of us gathered for WDWD this week at Fred's.

Some weeded, some mowed, some conducted trackwork and some used a torch to burn the foliage between the patio stones.

I ran a 14 car train of all new rolling stock that had been donated to the railroad over the winter hiatus excepting one.

Here are a few of the newly donated cars to the railroad.

My train departs Craig Leigh in this video footage.

Last week we felt we were missing a few structures when we went to set them out.

Well, Pat found them in the plastic bins!
There's the loading dock for the Hamer facility down in Rat Portage!

That's a whole lot better!

Train Extra 7316 ascends the grade out from "The Rockery".

7316's ascension as caught on video.

Doug is chatting with Fred after torching the weeds between the patio stones.

Doug's propane tank.

Henk is bright and chipper on this bright and chipper morning!

Chris is handling the overgrowth trackside at Lilly.

Pat busily gives the lawn a nice haircut.

Then he trims the beard with the whipper-snipper!
In the background Bernie begins scraping the dispatch hut as it will be getting a makeover of fresh paint in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile I have exited Clarke Canyon on my journey eastbound.

Canyon exit on video tape.

The look of astonishment on Henk's face tells it all!

For he has discovered the long-lost cabeese which were hiding in the "narrow gauge" shed.

The lads gather to examine the condition of the booth.

We will have to re-putty the windows as well.

Skipper Bernie gets back to work with an enthusiastic smile!

Doug & Bernie take a break!

The traveling circus of new cars makes headway out from Wellington Lake!

New train video.

Oops!  We forgot to fold down the umbrellas following Saturday's session and this puppy did a "Mary Poppins" routine while auditioning for the local theatre group!

It's Sir Billy to the rescue.

He's no tree hugger...he's a pole hugger!

That's better than being a pole dancer I guess!  ❤👀❤

We spot some of our new cars including this CP car which ran along the E&N railway on Vancouver Island.

The Ironwood Road.

The B&O LCL car service.

My D&H line which used to act as my battery car for my Delaware & Hudson GP38-2.

The good old ON up here in Canada!

Another Ironwood Road beauty!

Lawrence's Hand Sanitizer car - this one purchased by Mark Shumelda.

An Ironwood Road gondola.

Close up view of the lettering.

Twins of the Soo Line!

A lovely center beam car.

Lettered for Boise Cascade.

Another ON beauty.

CP Multi-Mark.

CP "Spans the World".

Aha!

We found the lookout tower!

Bernie is back at it.

Installing all of those bumpers.

See what I mean.

Doug discusses the lettering on this car with Father Fred.

Pat remains hard at it!

He's found still more structures!

Yeah!

Our other Pat arrives and pitches in with the work crew.

"A little to the right...then to the left!" Father Fred directs.  😎😎😎

But Pat knows where he's going!

Pat gives us a friendly smile!

We found the St. Helens depot after hiding away over the winter.

Bernie managed to fix the joint where some trains derailed at our initial session of the season.

I run my train over the new rail joint.

All is well in this video take.

Two newly donated narrow gauge stockcars arrive on the scene.

Bee-you-tee-full!

George came over Tuesday before OVAR and anchored the pop-up canopy's legs to the cement patio stones!
Looks great George!

Then George drove Fred to OVAR where I found Bernie photographing the display stand.

And...quite the display it was!

Impressive!

As per usual, I bring out two large scale items to promote our end of the hobby!

I also brought along the first structure I ever built from scratch - even before I ever build a kit!

Felicity & Fred offer up smiles to this camera man!

My neighbour from two streets over, Richard Thornton, checks out the model railroad in the upper floor of the structure!

He can't believe his eyes!

For inside the station is a model railroad where he is lifting off the roof of that building on the layout to show a friend the model railroad inside it!

There are plenty of station signs hanging around the "Museum Entrance" as the depot was saved by the local model railroad club and turned into a railway museum.

I made this model long before I had a computer and the Internet was not heard of yet.
I sourced the signs from the back pages of Model Railroader Magazine where they list the city locations of the myriad hobby shops.
I simply cut out the city names!

Ralph and Felicity check out the list of McEwen Award Winners.
Greg Stubbings is this year's recipient.
Congrats Greg!

There's Paul & Bernie!

It was a full house!
The members of the "Dirty Thirty" presented on this evening.
In my next blog entry I will share some pics of their layout with you.

A Canadian Moment

Yessirree!  We've been working on the railroad just like this track gang out in Western Canada.

Thanks for checking in on the blog showcasing our Wacky Workday Wednesday Workings!
Here I am on the right with two dear model railroad friends, Howard Scodras & Don Leger who are now both running trains in Railway Heaven.
They were such great buddies and would have loved running trains in the great outdoors at Freddie's place!

Freddie is a happy camper.
The railroad is well maintained and we are ready for our next train ops session!
We are hopeful for good weather, but we only know closer to the weekend if we truly are able to run the railway.
Time will tell!
We are the WDWD crew of the OVGRS up here in Canada's National Capital, Ottawa
