Seanna's Pics From Session #2

Seanna's Pics From Session #2

This week Seanna agreed to help out with the photography as well when my camera batteries died out.

She was crewing 302 with hubby Steve and dear friend Claire.

Thanks Seanna for taking time away from your running duties to snap a few pics for us to enjoy!

This image was taken shortly after 302 arrived Nelson Yard.
Seanna, Steve & Claire will soon depart aboard Train 312 and continue their easterly journey across the rails of the IPP&W.
Algoma Central #168 is definitely far from 'home turf' but doesn't mind serenading as an IPP&W diesel engine!  👍👌👍

Seanna found Malcolm's power, yet another 'steed' 'from away' aboard the RP&M Nelson Yard/Bell Turn, Train 71/72.

Earlier, 302 had reached Mercer Siding and was held there until the crew gained clearance from the Nelson Yardmaster to enter the big yard.

312 polishes the rails at the pedestrian crossing with Spruce looming ahead in the distance.

Having reached Spruce, the crew will have both trailing and facing sidings to contend with.

Seanna managed to capture the ore train lifting its cars from the mine at Cedar Rock.
It would appear that the four cars were not coupled together.

Gerry was in control of the ore train on this day.
This CN unit was hired on by the "Ironwood Road" as there was a need for additional power.

The town of Ironwood can be a tough battleground on the best of days with trains wanting entrance from both the east and west with competition from the ore traffic and the numerous passenger trains.
Dispatcher Mike (little 'ole me) offers an assist in Ironwood seeing as we had quite a bit of congestion at this location due to one IPP&W train beginning its run much later than usual.

Peering across Ironwood we notice Pool Train 33 breezing to a stop at Wellington Lake.

Third trick train 324 arrives Spruce later in the morning and heads into the siding.

With their work complete 324 shakes off Spruce and looks forward to Ironwood connections.
These aging U-Boats have survived into the 2020's and continue to battle Father Time and the elements!
Thanks so much Seanna for sending along these great looking images from our session!

Mike is forever grateful to Paul for gifting him this Boston & Maine 40 foot boxcar seeing as Mike is a B&M modeler!

An HO scale version of the car can be seen on the front pin of the consist being pulled by two GP9 "Bluebirds" as the Train N2 "The Newboy" makes headways between Portland, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts on Mike's home layout.

On another day we see a similar train outbound from Boston destined for Portland tiptoeing atop the New England River Bridge at Haney Gorge.

This CN "Through Baggage" car resting in Craig Leigh will see action in the consist of the passenger runs.

At the pre-ops setup time, the railroad slowly awakens here at the west end where we find from left to right; Firgrove, Ralph Yard and Rat Portage.

A trio of cars are located at the wonderful facilities in Lilly.
Our very own Chris created the lovely grain bins you see.

Ladies out there...this fellow is the most eligible of bachelors in the entire Ottawa region.
The gals are knockin`his doors down - wanting to run narrow gauge trains that is!  😎😎😎

Here in the Glen, Trains 303 and 304 crowd the rails as they are staged in either direction with the two tracks to the right being the east and west interchange options.

Early in the session we find Marcel working Rat 61 for the Rat Portage & Mattawa Railway.

In an earlier post we watched him work the yard at Nelson.

Boxcars typically outnumber all other varieties of freight traffic but the flats and tank car seen here beg to differ.

Now here's the other side to that story!

Westbound passengers arrive Spruce on time.

Cedar Rock is thankful to the crew of 303 for delivering the goods the residents' way.

Passengers also pull into Peter's Pond in an easterly direction.

Video work in three locations.

Passenger #2 arrives Glen Hammond and is surprised to find Train 304 still in the vicinity.

The crew of 304 had taken time to assist another crew with a locomotive...thus the lengthy delay in getting underway.

We also find the locomotive hauling caboose on Rat 61 wanting into the Glen to conduct its work there.

Glen Hammond needs a decongestant as evidenced in this video moment.

And...to further complicate matters...

...we have had to divert Passenger #1 through Nelson Yard.

All of this is the result of Train 304 not being able to depart Glen Hammond on time.

Passenger #1 ran through Nelson Yard and backed into the station at Bellamy where it held for passengers from Glen Hammond to be bussed over to the new location!

Creative problem solving as witnessed in this video.

This Algonquin & Ottawa unit finds its way onto Track 3 at Bell.

The interchange track holds five cars, a lovely respite from a full track for the crew of 303.

303's entrance into Bell as we see in this video.

Rat 61 stalls on the grade up into Rat Portage and will require 'helper service'.

Andry oversees the developments with his train.

Meanwhile George marks the cars in Ralph Yard he requires for Train 314 which will depart shortly from Firgrove.

Rat 61's 'assist' is witnessed in this video view.

Still in the colours of its previous owner, CP, this unit is frequently found toiling for the IPP&W at Douglas Yard.

One of these two covered hoppers will head out on Train 313 while the other will remain in the yard.

Paul works the turnouts here as he makes up the next outgoing train.

Douglas Yard video showings.

Paul continues with his efforts here in the east end.

GP30 #8202 is up to the task!

Continued video experiences in Douglas Yard.

We anticipate a triple meet here in Bell & Stuart.

There we go!

Triple meet video between RP&M 71, IPP&W 314 and Passenger #1

314 arrives on Track 3.

Train 71 uses Track 4 as a lead into the town of Stuart.

Passenger #1 holds the main.

Video activities as seen at this busy junction in the railroad.

Number 1 departs town bound for Firgrove.

The crew takes the broad curve outside Stuart.

Passenger 1 stars in this video.

The Algonquin & Ottawa unit dances down the main line in anticipation of attacking its work from the tail end of the train.

A&O video work.

Henk & Bill find a lull in the action - momentarily that is!  😘

Passengers roll into Ironwood.

More passenger travel east at Watkins Siding.

Doug is found near St. Helens.

Chris & our other Doug have fun in Cedar Rock.

Talk about a busy railroad!

Pat's CP road unit will rumble out from Glen Hammond late this morning.

304 has reached Spruce and has begun the work there.

Henk has things toned down in the big yard at the moment.

Loads will eventually depart Firgrove in the west bound for the Northland Ore Dock in the east.

Empties from the ore dock will eventually reach the mines along the route of the IPP&W.

Pat has terminated Passenger #2 at Craig Leigh and will use this power on Pool Train 33.

Paul runs his CP GP30 #8202 in Douglas Yard.  Here we see a sister unit with a mate hauling a lengthy Canadian Pacific freight.

Here I am on the right with friends Eric (eyes closed) and Shane.

Thanks go out to Father Fred for hosting an exhilarating session.
Great seeing you out, Ray!
Thanks to Seanna for the first set of images at the top of this entry.
