Five Trains Out Today

Five Trains Out Today

Today we experienced five trains rolling along the rails of the IPP&W and RP&M.

Marcel brought out this Union Pacific beauty...

...along with the Canadian National van he recently purchased.

What a gorgeous combination these two items make even if they are from different roads and different countries!

The 3607 is an EMD SD45.

H-e-r-e's Marcel, the man himself!

Moe brought out his Canadian National diesel unit.

Here's Moe with his train entering Ironwood from the east.

The locomotive is painted in the stylized "wet noodle" scheme.

She's rolling through Ironwood as an extra on this day.

The 4008 is an EMD GP40.

Doug has brought along a lovely steam engine...

...to ensure the "old" is not forgotten among the diesel units of modern times.

This was Doug's first time running her...

...and she behaved admirably!

Doug thanks Fred for offering up the steamer his way.

Here's Doug, the proud papa.

George laughs as he and Bernie gesture with their hands and arms.  I won't tell ya what they were chuckling about!

Bernie's cool looking carrying case.

Ah yes, another steam locomotive plies the rails recreating history in these strange Covid times!

The lads have a gander at the train as they follow its progress through Blockhouse.

She's a real looker, Bernie...

...but which railroad is she from?  (Big grin!)

Andrew's having fun in the wide expanse of Nelson Yard...

...with his little Mack.

He looks like a canoe out on the ocean traversing the many tracks in the big yard!

Andrew is also a very proud papa with this little charm of a locomotive!

She's a real keeper, Andrew!

This was the scene that greeted me upon my arrival this morning...a posse converged around Spruce.

Now...what could they be discussing?  (Big grin!)

It arborist Bernie, hard at work, as usual.

Hi Neil!  Good to see you out!

A trio in discussion.

Let's check back in on Marcel.

He's underway out from Bell.

Having reached Mercer Siding...

...Marcel spots some kind of "service interruption" along the right of way!

What could it be?

Hmmm...we'll have to check in with Moe later on regarding this one!

He's got a high green!

And he reaches the junction.

Through the crossing...

...and nicely framed...

...into Glenn Hammond.

Looking real nice, Marcel!

Even in the lesser yard in the Glenn, this massive locomotive appears miniscule.

Ah...here's Moe.

Back on track.

Beneath the Spruce crossing...

...then through the pedestrian crossing...

...heading towards Blockhouse.

Moe must hold as Bernie is ahead of him in this morning's convoy.

A great big note of thanks to Gene...

...for creating capable clearance...

...for the crews navigating the curve at Lilly.

Bernie tiptoes out on the span...

...as Neil captures the moment.

Such an elegant sight!

Doug and Andrew are found in Craig Leigh.

Doug is running light through Ironwood.

She's a real "looker' too, Doug!

Kneeling into the big curve toward Spruce...

...and downgrade heading for Blockhouse.

The old meets the new...

...or...the wise meets the young!

"Au Revoir" to Doug as he heads towards the interchange area to the west of Bell.

Andrew has brought along...

...the tender he has been working on...

...with such fine details for running the locomotive.

A great looking effort Andrew!

More time to socialize...

...while everyone keeps a safe social distance...

...because we wish to keep returning each week.

And... we thought we had congestion at Ironwood and Spruce!

Check out this little "service interruption" Lisa and I encountered on our way to Fred's this morning on Riverside Drive at Billings Bridge.

It's a case of the "Mamas and the Papas" teaching the little ones!

As always we thank Skipper Fred for hosting the eager beavers who love to assemble to run trains over the prestigious tracks of the IPP&W and RP&M railroad lines!
All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
