Garry Pays Father Fred a Visit
On Friday, June 19 Garry paid Fred a visit. He brought along his own freight cars and his CN Geep locomotive so as not to touch any of the other equipment. Garry's train is indeed a lovely composition of personal equipment!
His is one "nice train" departing Douglas Yard in Craig Leigh. Garry snapped the image as the consist passes by the western end of town at Northland.

Aha! Garry has offered up a caption for this image, "Operator in Familiar Territory". We all know why.
Garry is our affable and extremely competent yard master here in Nelson Yard.
He manages to keep the trains flowing and lading moving along the rails. Nothing sits in his yard for too long!
Garry has his train safely tucked away in storage.
Yes! He was able to navigate the slippery track terrain at Lilly! Alas, Garry offers up a more detailed description of this penetration of the line. In Garry's words, "I show this picture of my train going through the forest, but I did not take an earlier pic or mention before that I had to remove a few rather sturdy weeds that seriously impeded progress (tilting cars) and, in one case, actually stopped the train. Fallen little twigs/branches were also a menace in certain areas, so I had to be very alert. When I was putting the cars away, I had to extract weeds from several trucks. I should've taken a picture of that."
Garry appreciates the great help and guidance he, along with all of us, receive from our fearless leader!
Thanks to Garry for sending along these great pics and the lovely story of time spent with a great friend!
All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
The IPP&W railway and its accompanying OVGRS society are two of the truly great institutions of outdoor model railroading. It's not surprising that people, including this writer, come from hundreds of miles away to experience them first hand.
ReplyDeleteOn behalf of the IPP&W railway and the OVGRS society, we thank you for such kind words, Johnny. It is a true joy for all of us when you make it up to Ottawa for a visit. If only we lived closer and could see you more often. You are a true friend to the entire gang! Mike
