Pat's Version of Train Running in October

Pics From Pat
Train Running in October

Pat sent along these fine photos and videos from our train running session this past Saturday.  Enjoy!

Things are pretty quiet around the Northland Ore Dock later in the morning once Paul brought home his train after depositing a full team of tankcars to various locations around the railroad.

Paul's two buffer cars are all that keeps him from kissing his caboose!  (Big grin!)

After having gone from one of the longest trains to one of the shortest as the morning wore on, the crew deserves a well-earned rest.

Hey, Pat managed to grab a few railfan shots of the unit tanker train in action!

She's nearing the end of her run as the crew breezes through Ironwood.

Pat is heading in the opposite direction over the Patrick Brennan Bridge which spans Brennan's Gap.

Here's a happy-faced Paul...but where is his train?
Ah...it's hiding in behind him!

Mr. Brennan climbs the hill...

...and eases into the big curve at Lilly.

Pat is on a slow order as he will pass the work crew in mere moments.

Through to Nelson Yard.

Pat's steam locomotive sidles up beside two residual tankcars left in the yard by Paul.

With a runaround move complete, Pat deposits this stockcar at the facing siding.

Then, it's over to RP&M rails.

He has cleared the junction...

...and races up the hill toward Rat Portage.

Through Ferndale, the crew steams towards Pratt's Bottom.

It's a meeting of minds in the crew lounge.

Supporting wall modifications are being discussed in the distance.  Lawrence and Bernie confer as Robin joins the fray.

Much later we find Pat descending the grade over the Brennan Gap.

The crew finds daylight out from Blockhouse.

The large sweeping curve to the west of Spruce offers up these dramatic aerial shots.

Pat steams through Ironwood...

...where he spots two tank cars left by the tanker train.

Nearing the end of the run, the train takes to the station track in Mount St. Helens.

We must thank Pat for these amazing pics, videos and great stories for our entertainment!
All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
