Mark's Pics From Saturday

Mark's Saturday Pictures

Mark has captured Mike and George listening intently, but to whom?

They are listening to our "Father Fred" of course, explaining patiently and clearly the huge effort to be undertaken at Spruce.

Father Andrew and Moe are paying attention too!
Mark reminds us to wish all of our American friends a "Happy Independence Day on this day, July 4th!
All pictures and stories in this posting come from the lens and pen of Mark Shumelda, a wonderful OVGRS member...as are all!

Here we see the road bed at Spruce being laid out.

Andrew explains to Mike the Annie conversion process where he incorporated some novel ideas.

She's a real beauty, Andrew!

Yes, with the hard construction work taking place in Spruce notwithstanding, some of the lads found time to run their locomotives in order to give the IPP&W rails a good test. :-)
Andrew is proudly demonstrating his recently-converted gorgeous red Annie.  She is really "high tech" with a built-in voltmeter!  She's fully charged at 20.3 V and ready to go.

Here we see Andrew's nifty, extremely efficient battery R/C conversion for the Annie.  (We hope you write this up into an article for the website, Andrew!)  Mark is impressed and says, "Well done.  Bravo!"

Mike likes her too.  It's nice to see the "company photographer" in a picture for once!  We have to keep Mike from becoming camera-shy.  Andrew's loco is rounding the bend to the mainline.

I couldn't resist one more shot of Mike marveling over Andrew's loco!

We catch up with Mark's recently converted Climax on her maiden run along the IPP&W rails.

She's looking fine indeed sitting on the ore dock with a string of imaginary ore cars ready to roll.

Here she is making a run to the mine to pick up an (imaginary) string of ore cars to return to the dock.  An idea for a future narrow-gauge, small logging/mining operation scenario perhaps?

With all of the excitement at Fred's, Mark left behind Oliver's baby carrier, luckily, not Oliver himself!  :-)
This gave Andrew an excuse to drive by Mark's place in the afternoon to return the carrier and visit Marks' own Patrick and Perimeter Line (PPL) layout.  Thanks so much for a lovely visit, Andrew!  Here, Mark and Andrew have their arms outstretched to demonstrate proper "physical distancing" (a.k.a. the 2-metre or 6 feet rule) in the age of COVID-19.  Mark's White Pass and Yukon Route (WPYR) train is stopped for the photo in the foreground.

Thank you friends for a lovely day!  Mark Shumelda.
Thanks, Mark, for sending along such great pics and wonderful stories from a fun day of railroading!
All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
