More Train Running From July 25th

Second Posting of July 25th Train Running Session

In Part Two of our account from this Saturday's train running, we continue down the rails with a look at a couple of the trains that were run.

This is the "Lawrence Special" railfan excursion.

She's a real beauty of a train.

Here's Lawrence himself seeking shade beside the dispatch booth.

His train has departed Spruce recently and is passing Blockhouse.

Taking the short bridge over the gut.

Triumph of the grade and on into Lilly.

My train follows close behind.

The lily of the valley is in abundance...

...even though a great deal had been removed recently...

...so as not to interfere with the train movements.

A close-up of the Delaware & Hudson GP38.

Gaining altitude on the bridge...

...then into Nelson Yard.

It's a clear alley for me to pass through.

Whereas Lawrence pursues a station stop in Glenn Hammond.

I'm out from Nelson Yard to discover the west end of the line...

...while Lawrence departs the Glenn.

The red flags are blowing in the wind...

...as I take the junction crossing.

Speaking of "Blowing in the Wind," this trio is blowing up a storm of stories about railroading.  From left to right we find Grant, Fred and Marcel enjoying the camaraderie that is found each Saturday morning when the lads and lasses meet to run trains.

I hold at Mercer for a train which is occupying the main in Peter's Pond.

The opposing train is held at Peter's Pond and I am granted favour with the turnouts set for me.

I run past the protected train.

The pond is a lovely place to visit...

...and it can become quite busy at times.

Stepping out from the shadows and on to the dance floor!

In plain sight.

My consist...

...includes, boxcars,...

...tankers...

...twins!...

...a temperature controlled car...

...a pair of...

...hoppers...

...a stock car...

...did I say boxcars?...

...and a Fred...inside the caboose!

Love that transfer caboose at the tail end of Marcel's train!

Lawrence has found Spruce...

...while...

...I anticipate...

..."The Corners"...

...then into daylight...

...and I'm upgrade through Watkins as Lawrence proceeds "tender first" though Ironwood.

Lovely...

...indeed.

Two steamers!

That's Paul...

...hot on my heels!

While Marcel has fun...

...switching his train around...

...on the eastern extremity of Nelson Yard.
Check in soon for yet another update from Saturday's session.
All the best, Mike Hamer, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
